In September 2024, [[Wizards of the Coast]] released the {{pub|Player's Handbook (2024)}}, the first of the [[5th edition]] revised core rulebooks (with a pre-release in August 2024 at [[Gen Con]]). The {{pub|Dungeon Master's Guide (2024)}} is due to be released in November, the {{pub|Monster Manual (2024)}} in February 2025, and a revised [[SRD524|SRD]] shortly after.

On 2024-09-03, Wizards of the Coast released the {{iplink|2024 D&D Free Rules}}, the start of the 2024 revision to the [[5e|5th edition]] core rulebooks release. The 2024 rules are designed to be semi-backward compatible, meaning that unless the rule is replaced, the 5e (2014) rules still apply.
