Created out of the harvested body parts of a [[Crossbow Scorpion (3.5e Monster)|crossbow scorpion]] which has been kept in a state of partial life due to some complicated alchemy, this organic crossbow is made of chitin, tendons, and other flesh with mechanical parts for a trigger and stock.  It functions as well as a normal [[SRD:Light Crossbow|light crossbow]] in all respects, but those with martial weapon proficiency can use its poison function.  As a swift action the user can poison the bolt with medium crossbow scorpion venom (Injury DC 13, 1d3 [[Con]]/1d3 [[Con]]).  If the weapon is enhanced the enhancement bonus applies to the save DC of the poison.  Those with the Poison Use ability also add +1 to the DC of the poison.  You can also apply any other poison to the bolt as a swift action without provoking attacks of opportunity.

The poison reserves take a moment to recharge.  It can fire a poisoned bolt once every 1d4 rounds.

Because it is made of meat, it cannot be made from special materials.  However [[Orgacraft (3.5e Equipment)|orgacraft]] only requires 1000 gp and no special ranks to apply.  Positive and negative energy also function on the weapon at 1/2 effectiveness.
