The roamer's staff is a six-foot staff that can be broken down into three two-foot lengths with a companion pouch that is made of a rounded triangle of stout leather. Each corner of the leather pouch has a pocket built in, and the pouch can be laid open to use these individual pockets, or folded to create a larger pouch, secured with a leather tie-strap.

The connections between staff sections are made such that a second staff can be used to expand one to a greater length, allowing the staff to easily double as anywhere from an eight to twelve-foot pole if a second is available. The staff also has a knife sheath attached, which can easily be replaced with the sheath for another knife or a dagger (drawing the knife or dagger can be done as a free action that is part of a move-action, as if the wielder has a +1 BAB, regardless of their actual BAB).

The staff also features various navigation tools as decoration, such as a simple night sky map, a pair of holes at right angles to one another that aid in maintaining direction, measuring marks for both distance/depth and time (using the height of the sun), and can be used to determine cardinal directions with the sun. Roamer's staves also often have other various useful tools for the traveler, such as pace-counting beads, a pocket on the staff for a map or other small sundries the owner might want to have handy, and can easily function as a trekking pole.

Finally, the staff can be broken down into three sections, and then the sections either lashed together at the top with an attached cord to form a tripod on which the pouch can be laid out, allowing the three corner pockets to hold items while the owner works, or lashed together in the middle to create a camp stool with the leather pouch spread open and the poles inserted into the corner pockets as a seat.

The roamer's staff is a skill tool for Survival checks, and provides a +2 circumstance bonus on such skill checks.
