This ''+1 rapier'' is attuned to the powers of air.  As a standard action it can make a special attack with an additional +5 ft reach.  On a successful hit, the target must make a [[Fortitude]] save DC 12 + their highest mental ability modifier or be forced into ''[[SRD:Gaseous Form (Spell)|gaseous form]]'' as per the spell for 2 minutes, though they can try to return by making the saving throw each round as a full round action.  A successful initial save (but not any of the subsequent saves) renders them immune to further attempts for 10 minutes.

In addition if you are under the effects of ''gaseous form'' yourself, you are able to make a single attack as a standard action with the rapier in spite of the usual prohibition against attacks in this form.  However, you do not benefit from the additional reach.

This weapon always bypasses the damage reduction of [[SRD:Air Elemental|air elementals]].
