* {{3.5e Racial Attribute Adjustment|+2|Dexterity}}, {{3.5e Racial Attribute Adjustment|-2|Charisma}}: Shikelves are strong and graceful hunters stalking through the trees but their coloration and scales tend make them less attractive to other species.

* Shikelf [[SRD:Base Land Speed|base land speed]] is 40 feet: Climb speed is 30 on wood, 20 on stone. Shikelves do not suffer any movement penalties for moving about a forest. Shikelves can climb almost as fast on wood surfaces as they can move on land using their sharp claws. While their claws are sharp enough to dig into stone, they are less effective and require a little more work reducing how fast they can move. Shikelves are in-tune with the nature of forests and instinctively know where to place their hands and feet to move efficiently and silently.

* +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells and effects and a +4 racial bonus against mind effecting spells and effects. Shikelves minds are sturdy places and the beast within guards them ferociously from intrusion or alteration.
* +2 natural armor: The shikelf's scales act as a form of natural body armor.
* Racial Skills: Balance, Hide, Spot, Move Silently, Listen, Sense Motive, Tumble, Jump, [[Scent_(3.5e_Skill)|Scent]], and Climb are always considered class skills for buying ranks in those skills. They gain +4 skill points per level which can only be used in those skills. Strong instincts combined with claws and strong bodies help to make Shikelves natural born climbers, whether they are climbing a tree, a cliff face or the sides of buildings. They are also exceptional jumpers having the feline’s ability to judge distance and grace in the air though they do not have a tail.
* Instinctive Fall: On a successful Reflex save (DC 10 or 15 if asleep) a Shikelf can grab the nearest solid object to prevent a fall over an edge or drop. Relying on all six of their basic senses along with a strong sense of balance they are constantly aware of their body’s position and movement at all times. Even if sleeping they will instinctively grab the nearest solid object as they begin to fall to stop the fall. This happens in an instant before they fully regain consciousness.
* Naturally Stealthy: Shikelves can apply their full Hide and Move Silently skills even while moving at their normal speed within a forest, on the ground or in the tree branches. On grassy open plains they can apply their full Move Silent bonus but not their Hide. Outside of forests or plains normal stealth rules apply. Shikelves are assumed to be always applying their Hide and Move Silent skills.
* Always Armed: Shikelves have retractable claws on their hands and feet which can be used as an armed attack instead of a wielded weapon. Extending and retracting their claws is a free action. In combat their claws are treated as wielded weapons. Claws are slashing weapons which do 1d4 damage (+1d4 at every 5th level) with a crit range of 19-20x2. Teeth (bite attack) are piercing weapons which do 1d4 damage (+1d4 at every 5th level) with a crit range of 19-20x2.
* Prehensile Feet: Shikelves feet are very flexible allowing them to utilize their feet as a second pair of hands for purposes of gripping, moving, climbing and clawing. Shikelves are not trained to use their feet to wield a wielded weapon as such their feet are always counted as an off-hand and they suffer double the penalty for using a weapon in an off hand.
* Jump: Shikelves are able to jump up to two times their body height naturally gaining a +5 to all jump checks. Shikelves are able to Hop Up onto an object as high as the Shikelf's height. Any jump made from a crouched position is treated as if the shikelf made the jump from a running start. From a crouched position a Shikelf can leap in any direction. This crouched leap is treated as a Long Jump with a running start for DC.
* Dragnophobia: Shikelves suffer a -5 penalty to will saves against the Frightful Presence ability of dragons.
* Fear of Absolute Darkness: Shikelves have a problem in complete absolute darkness, they brains are not able to function normally. If they do not perceive some kind of ambient light they will freak out and try to escape the "Unnatural" darkness. They loss all self control and will not stop trying to escape until they reach light or loss consciousness. A shikelf in this state is extremely violent, unpredictable and almost unstoppable. This of course makes them very dangerous. There is no reasoning with a shikelf in this state as their conscious mind has retreated within themselves and they are running on pure instinct.
* Demon Range (See Below): Under certain conditions the beast which resides deep within the shikelven mind can get loose.
