The creature's size and type are unchanged, though creatures of the Animal type become Magical Beasts.  Do not recalculate the creature’s Hit Dice, base attack bonus, saves, or skill points if its type changes.

This gives them a set of hands which can be used to hold and wield weapons one size smaller than normal.  If they have a bite attack they retain it, but it goes down one size category.
