A hornet gun is exactly as its name implies. Built out of smooth yellow carapace hardened by honeyed wax and armed with a big poofy barrel shaped like a single hexagonal honeycomb cavity, when a hornet gun's trigger is squeezed as an attack action an angry hornet flies out of the barrel and will attack the chosen target as intended. The hornet will attack the target using the wielder's ranged attack bonus and deal 1d4 damage on a successful attack. A hornet, once fired, has a longevity of 3 [[SRD:Round|rounds]] (including the firing round) and will automatically make another attack roll against its target during any subsequent rounds. The hornet will lock onto the target it is fired at, even if the initial attack misses, and can only ever attack that specific target. If the target tries to run, the hornet will attempt to chase after him and attack. The hornet's flight speed is 30 feet (or double that as a double move).

Any creatures that take at least 1 point of damage from a hornet are [[SRD:Sickened|sickened]] from the pain of the sting for up to 1 minute after the last sting, unless it is immune to the effects of pain. A hornet's sting is considered [[SRD:Magic Weapons|magical]] and [[SRD:Piercing Weapon|piercing]] for the purpose of bypassing [[SRD:Damage Reduction|damage reduction]].

Hornets fired from the hornet gun have 0 [[SRD:Hit Points|hit points]] (any hit or effect that deals damage or even [[SRD:Nonlethal Damage|nonlethal damage]] will get rid of it) and a base AC of 18 (10 + 8 size) plus the wielder's [[SRD:Dexterity|Dexterity]] bonus, plus a dodge bonus equal to half the wielder's [[SRD:Base Attack Bonus|BAB]]. A creature may choose to attempt and swat a hornet as either a [[SRD:Move Actions|move]] or attack action.

A hornet gun can be enhanced with further magic. Each point of [[SRD:Enhancement Bonus|enhancement bonus]] has the following effects:

*Hornet damage and AC increases by +1.
*Hornet longevity increases by 1 [[SRD:Round|round]].
*Hornet flight speed increases by 10 feet.
