Useful monster entrails may be extracted from a recently slain [[SRD:Aberration |Aberration]], [[SRD:Dragon|Dragon]], [[SRD:Fey Type|Fey]], [[SRD:Magical Beast|Magical Beast]] or [[SRD:Outsider|Outsider]] which require a DC 20 [[SRD:Survival Skill|Survival]] check. Since they rot quickly they must be preserved in various ways, such as a [[SRD:Gentle Repose|''gentle repose'']] spell or the application of [[SRD:Unguent of Timelessness|Unguent of Timelessness]].

When used to craft alchemical goods, monster entrails may substitute it value in gold for creation, this apply both for crafted potions or mundane alchemical goods. If the value of the monster entrails exceed the value of the items, any leftovers may be used on other projects. If the monster entrails particularly match the purpose of the alchemical item such as making antivenom against the monster's actual poison) it value count as twice as high for the purpose of creating said item. If used as part of a [[Craft, Rebuilt (3.5e Skill)|Craft]] (Cooking) check, monster entrails grant a +4 alchemical bonus to the check.

Last but not least, monster entrails may be used to fulfill the spell component of magic items. In order to do so, the original creature must have possessed the spell as a spell-like ability. Unlike alchemical items you cannot use Monster Entrails to substitute gold cost unless also used to craft a potion, at which point both effect apply.
