This ''+1 heavy steel shield'' grants a +5 insight bonus against mind-affecting compulsion effects, and if you fail your save against any effect which produces ''[[SRD:Confusion|confusion]]'' or a confusion-like effect such as ''[[SRD:Song of Discord|song of discord]]'', you get a save every round to negate.  This functions even on instantaneous effects such as insanity.

If your game uses [[Dark Insight (3.5e Variant Rule)|dark insight]], this save bonus also applies against obtaining dark insight.
