A metal torus appears and immediately discharges electricity at the nearest creature friend or foe within 20 ft of it, dealing 1d8 points of electric damage.  If multiple creatures are equally the nearest, it strikes every nearest creature once.  From this point on any creature who is within 20 ft of the torus at the start of your turn is zapped for 1d8 electric damage.  The torus hovers up to 5 ft off the ground, and may move up to 20 ft as a move action, or as part of Concentration, otherwise it hangs in place where it last stopped.

The torus is a physical object, and can be attacked and destroyed.  It has hardness 10 and 2 hp per caster level, with an AC of 12 (Tiny object).  Striking the torus with natural weapons, unarmed strikes, or melee metal weapons discharges 1d8 electric damage into the attacker on a hit.

The torus does not have much strength behind its movement limited to 5 lbs of force behind it, unable to push creatures or batter down obstacles.  It is small enough for a Medium or larger creature to share its space with it.  A tesla coil goes inert and vanishes if it exceeds the spell's range.
