[[Summary::You're a huge fan of the theater, and you know the ins and outs of the performing arts, its major players, and what it takes to be a superstar. That's on top of knowing enough to write several dissertations on most of the major plays in existence, and perhaps a few obscure ones. You also know about the theatrical energy known as "VFX" and, at if you develop your knowledge enough, gain awareness that all the world's a stage, and all the men simply players; you can see anything coming just by virtue of the fact that the world seems to work like a roleplaying game.| ]]

Knowledge (theatrics) is a [[SRD:Knowledge Skill|Knowledge skill]] that represents knowledge of the performing arts, its biggest trends, its most important players, and what it takes to make it big. It also represents knowledge of important pieces of performing art (like ballets and plays) and the mysterious theatric energy known as [[Viewtiful Warrior (3.5e Class)#VFX|VFX]].

'''Important Note:''' This is a [[SRD:Knowledge Skill|Knowledge skill]], and for the most part follows the same basic rules and trends of other skills of its kind. That is, it uses the same rules for DCs, action usage, and retries. Any rule system (such as the Tome of Prowess) that excludes Knowledge skills in general also excludes Knowledge (theatrics). If you do not wish to use Knowledge (theatrics) in your game, the best-suited skills to absorb its general functions are Knowledge (local) and [[SRD:Perform Skill|Perform]]; Knowledge (psionics) is best-suited to absorb the functions relating to VFX.

Knowledge (theatrics) does have a special purpose that no other skill can claim: if you fail on any skill check that involves noticing something out of the ordinary ([[SRD:Spot Skill|Spot]], [[SRD:Listen Skill|Listen]], [[SRD:Search|Search]], [[SRD:Sense Motive Skill|Sense Motive]], or [[SRD:Survival Skill|Survival]]), you immediately attempt a Knowledge (theatrics) check (DC equal to the original DC, plus or minus new circumstance modifiers based on [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TropeTelegraphing how clichéd the situation is]). If you succeed on the Knowledge (theatrics) check, you immediately realize that something isn't quite right, and you retry the original check; you only get this one retry.
