===Personality=== 

Youkai oni love life, challenges, and alcohol beyond all else.  Long ago it is said that the youkai oni lived side by side of humanity, protecting them from evil and exacting justice.  Over time however, they began to be seen as cruel malevolent creatures whose only interest was destroying.  Given their love of drunkenness and excessive strength and durability, it is not surprising that they would come off as violent.  While they exceeded humanity in sheer power, they did not exceed them in wit, and through trickery and deceit they were made fools of.  It is said that after this trickery, the youkai oni retreated from the material plane to a land far off hidden from humanity.

Overall, youkai oni are jolly partygoers with a strong competitive streak and a perchance for violence.  In times past centaurs and satyrs were drinking buddies.  The tradition carries on today, though it is rare to find a youkai oni on the prime material.

===Physical Description===

Youkai oni are humanoid, but are genetically comparable to oni mages rather than humans.  They take on human form, with occasional orc or half-orc features, with one or two great horns of variable size and shape coming from their heads.  They are large and muscular creatures, ranging from human to nearly giant-sized.  Skin tone varies from typical human colors to fantastic reds and blues.  All of them have imposing stature and air about them.  

===Relations===

Youkai oni are said to be dangerous at best and malicious at worse, and that is partly true... if they have brought their ire upon you.  But until they have a reason to hate, they are typically jolly and happy to make more friends.  They cherish dwarves and their strong spirits, though their enthusiasm puts dwarves off.  Elves find them destructive and crude.  Halflings and gnomes have little to do with the giants.  Half-orcs may enjoy how easily they are accepted and find a love in battle, but also think youkai oni are not very serious.  Human reactions are mixed and varied as humans themselves.  They have good rapport with races that have similar motives as they, especially the ever-competitive goliaths.  They are also fast friends with most fey.

===Alignment===

Many youkai oni are chaotic neutral, caring not for good or evil, but finding much to love about the chaos of drunken stupors and the mischief they cause.

===Lands===

Once the youkai oni could be found in number on the prime material, but now only a few remain in remote parts of the world.  The majority moved to the Planes of Ysgard and Pandemonium, where they duke it out with the spirits of the dead.

===Religion===

Youkai oni have no racial religion and rarely observe gods.  It is not out of any mistrust or hate, but many find themselves too unfocused for religion.

===Language===

Youkai oni speak Common and Giant.

===Names===

Youkai oni names are of the traditionally eastern variety, with male names such as Amasuka, Ryuu, and Yama, and female names such as Suika, Tomo, and Yuugi.

* Drunk ([[Ex]]):  A youkai oni is best when drunk.  As long as they consume alcoholic drinks, they gains a +2 morale bonus to [[Strength]] and [[Constitution]], and a +1 morale bonus on [[Will]] saves, and a –2 penalty to AC.  The effect is otherwise identical with a [[barbarian]]’s rage except that the subjects aren't fatigued at the end of the rage.
* Natural Attack ([[Ex]]): Youkai oni has a gore attack with their horns, dealing 1d8 plus [[strength]] in damage. 
* Vulnerable to Trickery ([[Ex]]):  Youkai oni do poorly when not in a stand-up honest fight.  When flanking the youkai oni, opponents gain a +4 bonus to attack the youkai oni instead of +2.  Youkai oni also have a -2 on saving throws against traps.
* Racial Hit Dice: A youkai oni begins with two levels of Outsider, which provide 2d8 Hit Dice, a base attack bonus of +2, and base saving throw bonuses of Fort +3, Ref +3, and Will +3.
* Racial Skills: A youkai oni's outsider levels give it skill points equal to 5 x (8 + Int modifier). Its class skills are [[Appraise]], [[Climb]], [[Diplomacy]], [[Intimidate]], [[Jump]], [[Knowledge]] (local), [[Knowledge]] (the planes), [[Perform]], [[Survival]], [[Swim]], and [[Tumble]].
