Knowledge (theatrics) (Int)

Knowledge (theatrics) is a Knowledge skill that represents knowledge of the performing arts, its biggest trends, its most important players, and what it takes to make it big. It also represents knowledge of important pieces of performing art (like ballets and plays) and the mysterious theatric energy known as VFX.

Important Note: This is a Knowledge skill, and for the most part follows the same basic rules and trends of other skills of its kind. That is, it uses the same rules for DCs, action usage, and retries. Any rule system (such as the Tome of Prowess) that excludes Knowledge skills in general also excludes Knowledge (theatrics). If you do not wish to use Knowledge (theatrics) in your game, the best-suited skills to absorb its functions are Knowledge (local) and Perform.

Knowledge (theatrics) does have a special purpose that no other skill can claim: if you fail on any skIll check that involves noticing something out of the ordinary (Spot, Listen, Search, Sense Motive, or Survival), you immediately attempt a Knowledge (theatrics) check (DC equal to the original DC, plus or minus new circumstance modifiers based on how clichéd the situation is). If you succeed on the Knowledge (theatrics) check, you immediately realize that something isn't quite right, and you retry the original check; you only get this one retry. Failure on the Knowledge (theatrics) check means that you fail to notice anything's wrong, and the failure of the original check stands; failure by 5 or more means that you completely misinterpret your situation. You may only retry any given check once in this fashion.

Classes: Knowledge (theatrics) is a class skill for agents, bards, battle scholars, dancers, dreamers, jesters, knowledge mages, proteuses, songblades, Viewtiful Warriors, world dominators, aboleth disciples, bardbarians, butohs, cheerleaders, chosen by Gadlnaom, defilers of temples, dream sages, socialites deluxe, temporal dancers, war breakdancers, warrior poets, whipsingers, and aristocrats. Any classes not mentioned here with access to all Knowledge skills also have access to Knowledge (theatrics).

Synergy: If you have 5 or more ranks in Knowledge (local), you gain a +2 synergy bonus to Knowledge (theatrics) checks.

If you have 5 or more ranks in Knowledge (royalty and nobility), you gain a +2 synergy bonus to Knowledge (theatrics) checks.

If you have 5 or more ranks in Knowledge (theatrics), you gain a +2 synergy bonus to all Perform checks.

If you have 5 or more ranks in any Perform skill, you gain a +2 synergy bonus to Knowledge (theatrics) checks. You can gain this synergy bonus multiple times by having 5 or more ranks in multiple Perform skills.
