Optica, Lord of Eyes[edit]
A being who had an unhealthy obsession with eyesight in life, it grants you improved eyesight as a vestige.
Level: 1st
Binding DC: 13
Special Requirement: No
Legend[edit]
There are two main stories of Optica's origin. Some claim he was a deity of vision, who withered and died because, seriously, who worships a god whose only priority is eyes?!? Others claim he was a mortal who sought to have the best vision in the entire multiverse, and either became the deity mentioned in the first version of his background, or else pissed off some god or powerful outsider and had his very soul torn to shreds. What everyone agrees on was that he was way, way, way too obsessed with eyes for his own good.
Manifestation[edit]
A giant eyeball appears over the seal, hovering a few inches above the ground. It stares directly at you. And stares. And stares. And stares.
Sign[edit]
Your eyes become larger.
Influence[edit]
You become extremely protective of your eyesight. You must always look away from creatures with gaze attacks. Furthermore, you automatically become shaken whenever subjected to an effect that could dazzle you and become panicked when subjected to an effect that could blind you. You remain under the fear effect until the threat that could harm your eyesight is no longer a threat (generally meaning either that it's dead or you're far, far away from it).
Granted Abilities[edit]
Extreme Eyesight[edit]
You gain a +4 bonus to Spot and Search checks.
Pierce Illusions[edit]
You gain a +2 bonus on saves against visual illusions.
Notice Fine Details[edit]
You can notice secrets just by passing within 5 feet of them, just like an elf. Just like an elf, you do have to make a Search check to find a secret; you are simply able to find secrets even if you're not actively searching for them.
See In The Dark[edit]
You gain low-light vision and darkvision out to 30 feet + 5 feet per 2 effective binder levels. If you already have low-light vision, you gain improved low-light vision, enabling you to see three times farther out from a light source. If you already have darkvision out to 30 feet or better, your existing darkvision is improved by 10 feet plus 5 feet per 2 effective binder levels.
Penetrating Vision[edit]
Your powerful eyes can see right through obfuscating particles and screens, such as mist, smoke, and dense leaves (though you can't see through walls; you don't have total X-ray vision). Clouds and similar semi-opaque phenomena that could block line of sight, but not line of effect do not block your line of sight. Furthermore, any miss chance you would suffer due to concealment or vision-obscuring effects (such as blur and displacement) is reduced by 5% + 5% per even-numbered effective binder level (2nd, 4th, 6th, etc.), to a maximum of a 50% reduction at effective binder level 20. This does not reduce miss chances due to it being completely impossible to see your target (such as if your target is invisible, in total darkness (outside your darkvision, of course), or you're not even looking at them (such as to avoid a gaze attack)).
