The target area (the volume of a sphere), is cleansed of all traces of blood and other bodily fluids, dirt, grime, offal, bits of flesh, body parts, bodies, dust, powder, ash... anything messy and unliving (but not undead and, if the stuff is in a covered container, it remains unaffected). Simply, it is all gone, squeaky clean. Bodies leave behind cleaned possessions. Lavation is perfect for cleaning up after a battle quickly.
