When you use this blast shape on an Eldritch Blast, it forms a shifting shield [[Shield (3.5e Creature Ability) | Shield]] of energy around your body. Doing so grants you a +1 Deflection Bonus to armor class, +1 This Shield has 2 HP per dice of damage your Eldritch Blast would ordinarily normally deal. It also grants you Damage Reduction , and does not grant immunity to critical hits, but does grant a +1/Cold IronDeflection bonus to AC, +1 per 3 EB dice of damage your Eldritch Blast would normally dealyou possess (Max +5). All bonuses granted by this Blast Shape The Shield and all associated benefits last for 1 round2 rounds, unless otherwise notedor until the Shield is destroyed.
The invocation has additional abilities based on what Eldritch Essence you use with it, as follows. HoweverEach effect grants defenses against the essence's normal offensive capability, those effects with a duration of longer than one round prevent you subtracting from using a blast with that Essence again until the duration Shield's health when the Warlock is subjected to such an effect. While the Shield is upactive, so choose wiselyyou cannot utilize the same Blast Essence that was used to create the shield.

===Adaptation===
Effects can be created for any other Eldritch Essence invocationnot already found on this list; The shield protects against what the blast would normally inflict. By default, Essences that change damage type give the Shield resistance to that damage type equal to 1 + 1 per EB dice; And Essences that add a "Save vs. X" effect grant immunity to said effect, causing the effect to deal damage to the Shield equal to the DC.
