Meteorsteel
An extremely rare metal created by alloying metal harvested from meteorites and adamantine. The result is an extraordinary material of a bronze-like appearance. This new material often called Meteorsteel or Cometite is heavier than steel or adamantine, although it performs extremely well. It is generally considered superior to the impure adamantine but is only crafted in regions where meteor falls are common, as the material needed to craft it is difficult to come upon. The meteoric metal inside meteorsteel reacts strongly to magic, increasing it potency slightly. Because of the great difficulty of aligning adamantine and meteoric raw metal, the DC to craft meteorsteel items increase by 7.
A meteorsteel weapon behave just as an Adamantine weapon and it`s meteoric nature allows it to bypass DR/Cold Iron. A meteorsteel weapon's weight is increased by 75%, this makes it awkward to handle for those who lack in strength. In order to use a meteorsteel weapon, the wielder need a Strength score of 13 or higher for a one-handed weapon, 20 for a two-handed weapon or 9 for a light weapon. If the wielder's strength is too low she counts as not being proficient with the weapon. A meteorsteel weapon gain a +1 bonus to their critical range. This is added after multipliers such as from Improved Critical (so a scimitar is 17-20/x2, while an improved critical scimitar is 14-20/x2).
A meteorsteel armor behaves as a normal Adamantine armor with its weight increased by 75%. The DR granted by the armor however also uniquely applies to all damage (including energy damage) dealt by supernatural effects and spells.
When use to make shield meteorsteel excel as usual, although the weight of a shield made of meteorsteel is increased by 75% as normal. The strength requirements are the same as weapons with buckler counting as light weapons and tower shield as two-handed weapon. A shield made of meteorsteel has it shield bonus increased by +1 and grant DR 1/-, which stack with armor, a buckler grants no DR/- while a tower shield grants a DR/- of 2. This is in addition to the weapon traits a shield would receive if used for shield bash and such.
Meteorsteel has 40 hit points per inch of thickness and hardness 20.
Type of Meteorsteel Item | Item Cost Modifier |
---|---|
Ammunition | +84 gp |
Light armor | +7,000 gp |
Medium armor | +14,000 gp |
Heavy armor | +21,000 gp |
Shield | +2,800 gp |
Weapon | +4,200 gp |
Special Rule: If a weapon already a minimum amount of Strength required to use properly, if it made of Meteorsteel use whichever is higher and increase the required score by 2 beyond that.
