Dark Magician

A dark magician is a practitioner of black magic, which focuses on offensive spells. The focus on offensive magic comes at the cost of spell versatility, as the training required make them shun more helpful spells. Most dark magicians wear concealing robes, dark attires and many are fronds of large conical hats.

Class: Sorcerer

Level: 1st, 3rd, 9th, 20th

Replaces: Bloodline Arcana, Bloodline Power (3rd, 9th, 20th)

Benefit: A dark magician gain access to the following class features:

Limited Bloodline: A dark magician can only choose one of the following bloodlines: abyssal, arcane, daemon, fey, infernal, oni, starsoul, and undead. A GM may allow additional bloodline to be allowable at her discretion.

Black Magic Arcana: A dark magician is focused on black magic, which is inherently offensive in nature. Whenever she casts a spell or uses a bloodline power that deals damage, it deals +1 point of damage per die rolled. Additionally a dark magician adds +1 to the DC of any spells she casts with the [death] descriptor or that causes petrification.

However a dark magician cannot learn spells with the [good] descriptor or of the [healing] subschool. If the dark magician learns a spell with multiple alignment descriptors, she cannot cast it with the [good] descriptor.

This ability replaces the sorcerer’s bloodline arcana.

Dark Shield (Su): A 3rd level dark magician is able to raise a barrier of protective magic around herself, deflecting incoming attacks. As a swift action, the dark magician may grant herself a +2 deflection bonus to AC and Damage Reduction 1/Magic. This bonus lasts indefinitely, or until the dark magician is struck by a melee or ranged attack. At 7th level and each 4 levels thereafter she increases her deflection bonus to AC and damage reduction by 1.

This ability replaces the bloodline power gained at 3rd level.

Black Magic Master (Su): A 20th level dark magician is a potent user of black magic. She treats other creatures as if their energy resistance and spell resistance were 10 lower. She treats immunity to magic as if it was SR of 20 + the creature’s HD (which is not reduced by this ability).

This ability replaces the bloodline power gained at 20th level.

Awakened Sorcerer

Doublecast (Ex): A 8th level dark magician is able to cast two spells at once. Once per day, she may take a full-round action to cast two spells with a casting time of a standard action. The action At 16th level she may use this ability a second time per day.

This ability replaces split focus.
