Occult Mystic

An occult mystic is a sage who invests her mental focus in koan, prayers, and the teachings of her philosophy. They are adept at hand-to-hand combat, and are able to focus on their power with incredible effectiveness.

Class: Occultist

Level: 1st-20th

Replaces: Magic item skill, shift focus, magic circles, outside contact, binding circles, fast circles

Benefit: An occult mystic gain the following class features:

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: An occult mystic is proficient with all simple and martial weapons and light armor, but no shields.

This replaces the occultist’s weapon and armor proficiency.

Philosophical Implement (Su): At 1st level a occult mystic makes a bond with her teachings and philosophy, instead of implements.

The occult mystic's philosophy starts as an implement for any single school of magic at 1st level, and gains access to additional schools of magic at 2nd, 10th, 14th, and 18th levels, granting the occult mystic access to base focus powers and resonant powers accordingly. As a result of not having implements, the occult mystic must split her mental focus among the schools she knows for the purpose of determining resonant powers and using focus powers. The occult mystic cannot lend her implements, as they are not physical objects.

The occult mystic must follow her teaching and philosophy rather strictly. If she grossly strays from her teachings, then she counts as not having the required implements to cast spells until she can meditate for 4 hours, either reaffirming her belief or embracing a new philosophy. A minor violation has no repercussion, but many many done in succession may count as gross misconduct.

The occult mystic’s available mental focus is equal to her occultist level + her Intelligence modifier + her Wisdom modifier.

This ability alters implements, mental focus, spellcasting, and implement mastery.

Unarmed Combatant (Ex): A occult mystic gain Improved Unarmed Strike as a bonus feat, and her unarmed strike deals 1d6 point of damage (for a medium occult mystic).

AC Bonus (Ex): A 2nd level occult mystic adds her Wisdom bonus to her AC and her CMD, while wearing light or not armor and unencumbered. These bonuses to AC apply even against touch attacks or when the occult mystic is flat-footed. She loses these bonuses when she is immobilized or helpless.

This ability replaces magic item skills.

Bonus Feats: At 4th, 8th, 12th, and 16th levels, a occult mystic gains a bonus feat in addition to those gained from normal advancement. These bonus feats must be selected from those listed as combat feats. The occult mystic must meet the prerequisites of these bonus feats. The occult mystic counts her occultist as level in monks for4 the purpose of meeting the prerequisites of feat.

This ability replaces shift focus, magic circles, binding circles, and fast circles.

Spiritual Focus (Ex): A 6th level occult mystic is able to use any focus power that targets only herself as a swift action rather than a standard action. Additionally she may deliver any occultist spell or focus power which require a touch or ranged touch attack with an unarmed strike instead, following the same rules as magus's spellstrike.

This ability replaces outside contact.
