Mental Kineticist

This archetype attempts where many failed, making a mental-focused kineticist not reliant on burn. The mental kineticist has a reserve of mental energy and is at her best when it is full, becoming weaker as she burns herself out. A mental kineticist follows an opposite design to the normal kineticist, not being rewarded for accumulating burn. This relative safety comes at the cost of raw powers as they possess a weaker version of elemental overflow.

Class: Kineticist

Level: 1st-20th

Replaces: Burn, Elemental Defense, Internal Buffer, Elemental Overflow

Benefit: A mental kineticist gain the following class features:

Mental Proficiency (Ex): A mental kineticist uses their Intelligence or Wisdom modifier instead of her Constitution modifier to determine her damage with wild talents, the DCs of Constitution-based wild talents, the durations of wild talents with Constitution-based durations, her bonus on concentration checks for wild talents, and other Constitution-based effects of all her wild talents.

At 7th level and each 5 levels thereafter, the mental kineticist gains an additional point to her mental reserve.

Potent Elemental Defense (Ex): A mental kineticist is always treated as having spent a point of burn to improve her elemental defense. If the mental kineticist gain an additional elemental defense, she chooses which elemental defense gain this benefit.

At 9th level she is treated as having spent 2 points of burn to improve her elemental defense, or having spent 1 point for two different elemental defense.

This ability alters Elemental Defense.

Mental Power (Ex): At 3rd level, a mental kineticist gains a +1 bonus on attack rolls and damage rolls with her kinetic blasts, up to a maximum equal to the number of points remaining in her mental reserve. The damage bonus doesn’t apply to kinetic blade, kinetic whip, or other infusions that don’t apply the damage bonus from elemental overflow.

This bonus increases by 1 at 6th level and every 3 levels thereafter.

This ability replaces elemental overflow.
