Depress
Telepathy [Mind-Affecting]
Level: Mindbreaker 1, Nihilism 1, Psion/wilder 1, Psionic Psuperhero 1, , ,
Display: Mental, olfactory
Manifesting Time: standard
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Target: One creature
Duration: 3 rounds + 1 round/level
Saving Throw: Will negates
Power Resistance: Yes
Power Points: 1

Upon manifesting this power, choose one of the following effects. The chosen effect is applied to the victim if it fails its saving throw.

  • Ability Anguish: The victim takes a −2 morale penalty to Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma.
  • Skill Suffering: The victim takes a −2 morale penalty to one kind of skill check.
  • Save Sorrow: The victim takes a −2 morale penalty to Fortitude, Reflex, or Will saving throws.
  • Languid Levels: The victim takes a −2 morale penalty to level checks (including caster level checks, manifester level checks, initiator level checks, meldshaper level checks, and binder level checks).
  • Awful Attacks: The victim takes a −2 morale penalty to attack rolls.
  • Damage Downer: The victim takes a −2 morale penalty to damage rolls.
  • Apathetic Armor: The victim takes a −2 morale penalty to Armor Class.
  • Pensive Power: The victim takes a −2 morale penalty to the save DC of all effects that they generate that are keyed to one ability score of your choice. (This only accounts for the "primary" ability score determined by the effect itself, not additional ability scores that might be applied due to class features, feats, etc. It does, however, account for one ability score replacing another in a save DC formula.)
  • Wretched Resistance: The victim's spell/power resistance or martial defense is reduced by 2. (If a creature has separate spell resistance and power resistance, this effect can only be applied to one of them per manifesting.) This is a morale effect, and cannot stack with itself or other morale effects that reduce spell/power resistance or martial defense.

A mindbreaker gains 1 pain point for each creature that fails its saving throw against this power.

Augment: By spending additional power points, you may improve this power in various ways. However, each improvement must be paid for separately.

  • By spending 4 extra power points, you may improve the range of this power from Close to Medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level). By spending 4 additional power points after that, you may improve the range of this power from Medium to Long (400 ft. + 40 ft./level).
  • By spending 4 extra power points, you may affect 1 additional creature. All creatures to be affected must be within 30 feet of each other (though you may lift this restriction by spending 4 additional power points).
  • By spending 2 extra power points, you may apply an additional effect from the list of effects above. You must pay separately for each effect you wish to add.
  • By spending 2 extra power points, you may extend the duration by 1 round.
  • By spending 4 extra power points, you may replace one of the default effects with a stronger version (if multiple effects are applied, each must be enhanced separately, for a total of 6 additional power points):
    • Pan-Ability Anguish: The victim takes a −2 morale penalty to Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma. This is an upgrade of Ability Anguish.
    • Pan-Skill Suffering: The victim takes a −2 morale penalty to all skill and ability checks. This is an upgrade of Skill Suffering.
    • Pan-Save Sorrow: The victim takes a −2 morale penalty to all saving throws. This is an upgrade of Save Sorrow.
    • Lethargic Levels: The victim's caster level, manifester level, initiator level, meldshaper level, and binder level (whichever are relevant) are all reduced by 2 for all purposes (not just level checks). This is a morale effect. This is an upgrade of Languid Levels; however, despite a slight mechanical difference, the reduction from this effect does not stack with the penalty imposed by Languid Levels (meaning that caster level, manifester level, initiator level, meldshaper level, and binder level are reduced by a base value of 2 for the purpose of making level checks, not by 4).
    • Super-Awful Attacks: All attacks the victim makes have a 5% miss chance, which stacks with all other miss chances (such as the victim's target having concealment or being under the effect of blur). This is a morale effect. This is an upgrade of Awful Attacks.
    • Wistful Weapon: If the victim applies any bonus dice to the damage of his or her attacks (such as sneak attack damage), 2 of those bonus dice are negated (for instance, +4d6 sneak attack would be reduced to +2d6 sneak attack). If there are multiple types of damage dice, the largest dice are negated first (so a flaming enhancement would be negated before sneak attack damage). This is a morale effect. This is an upgrade of Damage Downer.
    • Morose Mist: If the victim is under some effect or situation that would grant a miss chance to attacks made against them (such as having concealment or a blur effect), that miss chance is reduced by 5% (to a minimum of 0). This is a morale effect. This is an upgrade of Apathetic Armor.
    • Pitiful Power: The victim takes a −2 morale penalty to the save DC of all effects that they generate. This is an upgrade of Pensive Power.
    • Ruinous Resistance: The victim's spell resistance, power resistance, and martial defense are all reduced by 2. This is a morale effect. This is an upgrade of Wretched Resistance.
  • By spending 4 extra power points, you may change this power's saving throw from "Will negates" to "Will partial". With this augmentation, a victim who succeeds on his/her saving throw takes a penalty (or penalties) half as bad as it/they would be otherwise (for instance, reducing a −2 penalty to a −1 penalty) instead of avoiding the penalty (or penalties) outright (unless they have mettle). All halved values are rounded down (for instance, a −3 penalty would be reduced to a −1 penalty, and a 5% miss chance would be reduced to a 2% miss chance).

For every 2 extra power points spent for any improvement, increase the save DC by 1.
