Mechanic
A mechanic is a somewhat simple job, relying more on knack and training they craft and repair things, usually for a fee. They usually rely on a workshop, garage and fully stashed workplace to make the best out of their skill. They differ from Builder as they focus on smaller tasks such as maintenance and are completely non-magical.
Making a Mechanic
Abilities: Mechanics usually rely on several ability scores, Intelligence increase their skills and relevant skill checks, Strength allow them to carry heavy things and Charisma allow them to negotiate good prices.
Races: Dwarves, Gnomes and Humans make most of the mechanics. However, any race can pretty much become a mechanic with little problem.
Alignment: Any
Starting Gold: 100 gold
Starting Age: Simple
Class Features
All of the following are class features of the Mechanic.
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A Mechanic is proficient with all simple weapons as well as the Bonesaw, Combat Shovel, Combat Spade, Gnome Hooked Hammer, Great Mace, Light Hammer, Military Light Mace, Military Heavy Mace, Warhammer and all martial crossbows and firearms.
A mechanic is proficient with light armor and medium armor as well as all shields (except tower shields).
Quality Fix (Ex): A mechanic is skilled at repairing broken or damaged goods. She can repair restore 1 hit point per class level to a damaged object or building for each hour of work, doing so requires a successful DC 20 appropriated Craft check. Additionally a mechanic counts as having the Craft Construct for the purpose of repairing damaged or destroyed constructs, if she has the feat she repairs them at twice the normal rate.
Mechanical Expertise (Ex): A Mechanic adds half her class level as a bonus on on Craft, Disable Device and Knowledge (Engineering) checks.
Trapfinding (Ex): A 2nd level Mechanic's ability to work with machine and mechanism work in her favor, she gain trapfinding as a Rogue of her level.
Handyman (Ex): A 3rd level mechanic halves the penalties for not having the proper tools to do a job. If she has Masterwork Tool she increases the circumstance bonus they grant by +1. This bonus only applies on skills which require tools to properly use.
