Human, Mitahnese[edit]

This race has been built with pathfinder in mind, and thus is balanced toward the pathfinder races.

The meteor-blasted realm of Mitah is a far away land where the sun is magically fixed in place, leading to eternal twilight. The land of Mitah housed the mighty Dragon-Kirin, celestial dragons of sorts, who acted as protector and warden of the realm. Over centuries, the humans who lived in Mitah interbred with the Dragon-Kirins, lending them the characteristics of both dragon and spirit.

The Mitahnese are human in appearance, they tend to have pale complexion, dark hair and more importantly, golden eyes. The eyes of the mitahnese are a manifestation of their heritage and often seen as a symbol of pride. The mitahnese are as varied as most other human populations in terms of personality, with their blood giving them a tendency toward good and lawful behavior, but also a strong sense of pride. Mitahnese culture is very lawful and ordered, and they worship their dragon-kirin ancestors, hoping for their return. Despite having a strong traditional culture, the mitahnese prize their independence and will, leading to a less rigid society than one would expect. The mitahnese ages at the same rate as humans, but are longer lived generally.

While their natural abilities hinder the typical versatility of humans, mitahnese distinguish themselves by their vigor. Additionally, a much higher than average number of Mitahnese are sorcerers, given their heritage. If a Mitahnese has a non-mitahnese parent they can take from either parent equally, but typically take on the ability of a Mitahnese human. The outliers of mitahnese culture with the ability to fight often end up as adventurers. Many mitahnese warriors leave their peaceful land to gain experience and eventually return, having proved themselves before their peers.

Racial Traits[edit]

  • +2 to any attribute: The humans from Mitah are versatile individuals who can walk any path in life.
  • Humanoid (Dragonblooded, Human): The Mitahnese are said to be descended from the Dragon-Kirin of Mitah, and thus possess dragonblood while still being human.
  • Medium: As a Medium creature, a mitahnese human has no special bonuses or penalties due to its size.
  • Mitahnese Human base land speed is 30 feet.
  • Low-Light Vision: A mitahnese human can see twice as far as a human in starlight, moonlight, torchlight, and similar conditions of poor illumination. She retains the ability to distinguish color and detail under these conditions.
  • Mitahnese Humans gain a +2 bonus on saving throws against magical sleep effect and effect which would leave them paralyzed.
  • Bloodline Vitality (Ex): The Mitahnese possess the blood of their dragon ancestors and show little sign of it. Their blood however grant them incredible vitality and skills, granting them an extra hit points and skill point per level (skill points multiplied by at 1st level as normal) and Rapid Healing 1. Their great vitality grant them the ability to automatically stabilize after the 3rd round of dying and increase the amount of negative hit points they die at by 50% (default of -15).
  • Dragonblood Surge (Su): Once per day a Mitahnese Human of 4th level or higher can reach for her inner energy and unleash a burst of force as a swift action, healing herself twice her character level. The blast of energy forces all adjacent creatures or large size or smaller to make a Fortitude save (DC 10 + half the mitanese's class level + her Constitution or Charisma modifier) or be pushed 10 feet away from her. Once this ability is used it leaves the mitahnese exhausted for 1 round. The Save DC is Charisma-based.
  • Golden Eyes (Su): The Mitahnese's golden eyes grant them abilities akin to their kirin ancestors which allow them to see raw magical effect and overall excellent vision. A mitahnese human gain a +2 racial bonus on Spot check and may cast detect magic as a supernatural ability at-will.
  • Twilight Adapted (Ex): The realm of mitah is shrouded in near constant twilight, and the mitahnese adapted to this light level. A mitahnese's low-light vision reaches twice as far as normal low-light vision. They are however mildly light sensitive, taking a –2 penalty against [light]-effect which would leave them blinded or dazzled and a –4 penalty on Spot check made in full daylight.
  • Automatic Languages: Draconic, Mitahnese
  • Bonus Languages: Any Non-Secret
  • Favored Class: Any
  • Level Adjustment: +0
  • Effective Character Level: 1

Alternate Racial Traits[edit]

  • Dull Eyes: Some mitahnese are born with dull golden eyes which have lost their hue, they can be mistaken for hazel or light brown eyes and have lost their powers. This can be the result of breeding between a mitahnese and non-mitahnese parent, a birth defect, or an injury. Those with dull eyes are often pitied and persecuted, and many resort to martial training to prove themselves, or in harsh cases survive. A mitahnese with this racial trait gains a single martial weapon proficiency of their choice, if they are proficient with all martial weapons they may instead choose an exotic weapon proficiency. Alternatively they may gain Improved Unarmed Strike as a bonus feat. This racial trait replaces golden eyes.
  • Kyoden-Genkaar: Some mitahnese are raised outside of Mitah, and never have to experience constant twilight. These mitahnese lack low-light vision and the twilight adapted racial traits.
  • Natural Sorcerer: In some mitahnese, their dragon blood manifests strongly toward magic, but leaves them less vigorous than normal. A mitahnese sorcerer with this racial trait treats their Charisma score as 2 points higher for all abilities. This racial trait replaces bloodline vitality and dragonblood surge.
