Talk:Clockstopper (3.5e Spell)
Brain broken
You are aware that time stop is flavored as not actually stopping time, but instead speeding up the user so dramatically that everything else is immobile in comparison, right? So... if this spell functions similarly to time stop, but prevents you from moving very far away from the point where it was cast... whaaaa? --Luigifan18 (talk) 14:16, 18 November 2017 (MST)
Viewtiful Monarch restrictions
I put this spell on the Viewtiful Monarch spell list, since it's so similar to time stop, which is also on the list. But I get the feeling that this spell could allow the Viewtiful Monarch to pull all sorts of stupid shenanigans that could render her effectively invulnerable. At the very least, I don't think she should be allowed to use VFX Refresh to refresh an expended clockstopper-holding spell slot while under the effects of clockstopper, since that could allow her to literally cast spells forever without giving opponents any chance to deal with her while she's doing that — normally, the fact that VFX Refresh requires swift or standard actions and VFX to perform means that trying to do it during an encounter can leave her vulnerable to her opponents, but clockstopper fixes that problem nicely; if the Viewtiful Monarch can refresh clockstopper itself during indefinitely frozen time, she can just cast it again the instant she's out of other spell slots, while if she can't, she has to expend an action on it while her opponents are able to act against her, so they can at least gradually whittle her down. VFX Refresh is intentionally a bit cheesy because it can be obtained at character level 30 at the absolute earliest, but I still don't want it to be possible to instantly restore all expended spell slots mid-combat with no limits, because that is just stupid at any level. So, any other thoughts on this issue? I don't want to make any major modifications to your spell without your say-so. --Luigifan18 (talk) 14:32, 18 November 2017 (MST)
