Shredder

Template:Creature Table

What hovers right in front of you is a round machine, a giant sawblade horizontally perched between two bun-shaped halves with a couple of menacing red lights in the HUD that look uncomfortably like spider eyes surveying the area. Even as it is rotating with intense speed, you can see years of drawn blood reflected upon the stainless blade.

A shredder is an airborne construct used for ambush, guerilla style attacks and assassination (search and destroy). Quick and extremely deadly, their razorsharp sawblades are meant for deadly force.

Combat

A shredder's main mode of attack is the blade imbedded in its body after which it is named. It uses the speed of its motion in conjunction with the extreme wounding capability of its weapon to create gruesome, lethal wounds that are difficult to stop. A shredder's sawblade is circular, sharply cerrated and 5 feet across, and is considered a manufactured weapon constructed out of tempered steel with hardness 12, base damage 2d8 and 30 hit points for the purpose of sundering. Needless to say, a shredder is proficient with its weapon.

Sensors (Ex): A shredder's sensors give it a +4 competence bonus to Listen and Spot checks and allow it to make such checks in reaction to anything within range of its various modes of sight, regardless of direction or awareness and as long as the shredder has line of effect. At a successful check against a creature or object, the shredder becomes immediately aware of it.

Shield (Su): A shredder has a personal shield, giving it a +2 deflection bonus to Armor Class. A shredder's shield has 20 hit points and has shield absorption 10. The first 10 points of damage from any attack are dealt to the shield. Damage over this amount is dealt to the shredder itself. The shield cannot absorb more damage than it has hit points at any time. When the shield collapses (has 0 hit points left), its deflection bonus to AC disappears until the shield gains at least 1 hit point. A shredder's shield regains 4 hit points per hour.

Shred (Ex): Whenever a shredder hits with its shred attack, the target must make a DC 17 Fortitude save or take another 2d8+2 points of damage at the beginning of his next turn due to gross injury and bloodloss. Save DC is Dexterity based. A shredder deals double damage when it charges an opponent, but damage dealt by the shred ability of a charging shredder is not doubled.
