DC is what?!?

...I'm sorry, but that is completely insane. At higher levels, nobody will be able to make that saving throw reliably, and characters who don't min-max their Reflex saves might not be able to make it at all. Heaven help the poor sap who has a poor base Reflex save, because he'll be screwed even if he does min-max Reflex saves. You do realize that a good base save progresses at the same rate as a poor base attack bonus, right? And that that rate is equal to half character level? A moderate base attack bonus is roughly 2/3rds character level, and a good base attack bonus equals character level. And this should be okay, because saving throws and attack rolls run on different RNGs. But you just went and put a saving throw DC on the attack roll RNG. No, wait, you did something even worse; you put it on the attack roll RNG, and then threw it off of that! See, your base attack bonus is a value dependent on your character level, but it isn't actually your character level. It's your base attack bonus. And then you might add different stuff, like your ability modifier and bonuses from magic weapons, spells, et cetera, and make a roll when you declare an attack. And your attack roll result, when compared to your enemy's AC, decides whether you hit or miss. And generally, monster ACs scale at roughly the same rate as characters' base attack bonuses. Saving throws, as I already said, scale at an entirely different rate. A slower rate. It's either (2 + 1/2 character level + ability modifier) or (1/3 character level + ability modifier) - plus bonuses from stuff like equipment and spells. And saving throw DCs are supposed to scale at that rate (well, the better rate, anyways). So the most common saving throw DC formula is 1/2 character level + some ability modifier. And I have to strongly recommend that you follow that formula, because otherwise, you're going to end up with a special attack that's broken as hell. --Luigifan18 (talk) 23:07, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

- Oh, hey, Eiji, I was just about to head to your talk page to alert you to this nonsense. The really sad thing is, it gets worse. Having a base DC of twice your character level should not be a thing. I had a bit of a conniption when I saw that, and now I need to lie down. (Don't worry, I'll be fine. - Ok. So... I agree with you, at the moment it's crazy rules and I need fix that. But when I thought about Spider Web, I have wanted regular progress for abilities. And "10 + 1/2 character level + ability modifier (Dex)" - it... Oh, ok. For me its not really interesting, but I think I can't offer something better.
- But what about Web Mastery? What do you think? Three feats of this branches enough to eventually get for the example "10 + character level + ability modifier (Dex)"? Or Web Mastery will gets only expanding the number of uses?
