Martial Defense (Ex)Edit
Martial defense is the extraordinary ability to avoid being affected by maneuvers and maneuver-like abilities. To determine if a maneuver or maneuver-like ability works against a creature with a martial defense, the initiator must make an initiator level check (1d20 + initiator level). If the result equals or exceeds the creature's martial defense, the maneuver works normally, although the creature is still allowed a saving throw where applicable. If the initiator fails the check, the maneuver is blocked, parried or otherwise overcome as to have no effect on the creature. If an attack is made as part of the maneuver, it may still hit, but it will only be a regular attack.
Only maneuvers and maneuver-like abilities are subject to martial defense. Martial defense does not affect stances.
A creature's martial defense never interferes with its own manuvers, items or abilities.
Martial defense does not stack. It overlaps.
