Lunar Cry

Caster Level: 20th
Aura: Strong Universal (DC 30)
Activation: See Text
Weight:

This pair of gauntlets is made out a strange nearly organic pale white sleaves which automatically close around the arms of the wearer. There is no sign of blades anywhere until, with a squeeze of the fingers, three long silver blades pop out from between the knuckles with a satisfying SHIKT noise. Black lines run down the sides of the arm up to where it stops at the elbow.

Lunar Cry is the signature weapon of legacy of the Wild Moon discipline, originally the weapon of its first wielder, the werebear paladin Roseveldt. It is said he obtained the weapon some somewhere hidden deep in the shadow plane and crafted by unknown hand, while other tales say a benevolent moon goddess granted it to him. Whatever the case, the mysterious gauntlet pair has proven to be quite a weapon indeed. It starts out as a pair of +1 bladed gauntlets which deal the same damage as spiked gauntlets, but deals slashing damage. Its blades are retractable and undetectable, as the gauntlet is too form fitting to hide the blades anywhere in traditional space. The blades can extend from small daggers to nearly as long as the forearm, and are made of a material which looks like silver (and bypasses DR/silver) but is as hard as adamantine. When the blades are extended, the hands must be kept in fists and are effectively unusable. Extending or retracting the blades is the same as drawing a weapon. As various rituals are made and power is gained, the weapon starts taking on stronger powers. There are five rituals that are performed, they must be performed in order (the 2nd ritual must be completed before you start the 3rd, even if you achieve the 3rd level pre-requisites). Rituals cost gold (in the form of feeding the blade raw materials) and xp, with an additional pre-requisite. Once the 1st level ritual is unlocked, the sword displays its omen effect. You can take time out and spend 8 hours bringing the weapon to the next level once you have the pre-requisites.

Lunar Cry is a unique magic item pair, on its way to becoming an artifact. While it has a price, it cannot be completely destroyed. If reduced to 0 hp, it instead falls inert in a broken condition, and unable to be used until repaired, but is not destroyed as items usually are. It is treated as an artfact against the effects of mage's disjunction.

The Lunar Cry always come as a pair. If the pair have been seperated, donning one of the gauntlets automatically summons the other across space and planar dimensions as needed.
