BirdemicEdit

The birds turn against mankind, exploding into action with amazing powers.

Sometimes nature has had enough and generates a bizarre disease which only afflicts flying winged creatures, like eagles and sparrows. At least, it's probably a disease, nobody really knows, but thanks to global warming the sea levels are rising and diseases like the bird flu virus and mad cow disease are spreading, and killing off the krill. Now, I'm not saying it's global warming, but it's global warming. Therefore, exploding bird pictures.

Creating a BirdemicEdit

This is an acquired template which can be applied to any creature with wings.

Size and TypeEdit

Size and type remain unchanged.

SpeedEdit

Regardless of the creature's flight maneuverability, they are all capable of hovering in place as if they have perfect maneuverability, and have no minimum fly speed.

Armor ClassEdit

For some reason, the birds are stupidly difficult to hit with things like guns and coathangers. Birdemic creatures receive a +4 luck bonus to AC.

AttackEdit

The claws, beak, or talons of the target creature become unusually sharp, gaining a 18-20/x2 critical (or 15-20/x2 with the Improved Critical feat they possess). If the creature lacks claws, beak, or talons, they gain two claw attacks dealing 1d6 points of damage (for medium creatures).

Special AttacksEdit

Bird Acid: (Su) Once per day, a birdemic creature can release a 30 foot cone of acid. This acid deals 1d6 acid damage for every HD they possess, with a Reflex save for half. The DC is Constitution-based. If this kills the target, they remain alive and staggered for 1 round, usually to let themselves gently drop to the ground. Wouldn't want to hurt yourself while dying now.

Exploding Birds: (Su) A birdemic creature has a 50% chance of exploding on death, erupting into a fireball that deals 1d6 points of fire damage out to a 5 foot radius, with a Reflex save for half. The afflicted creature sometimes dive-bombs targets, killing themselves by fall damage to purposefully provoke their death throes (sometimes).

Special QualitiesEdit

Animated Gif: (Ex) Birdemic creatures appear as poorly animated creatures of their type. Upon encountering them visually, they appear to be poorly done illusions. Creatures can make a Will save upon interacting with them, DC 15, to realize they are actually there and not some kind of joke.

Damage Reduction: (Ex) Birdemic creatures have DR 5/coathanger. No one is certain why, but coathangers truly are the most effective weapon against these crimes against film making nature.

Hivemind (Su): Birdemic creatures often act in unison even if they would otherwise be animal-intelligence birds. They act as if they have a minimum intelligence of at least 5, even if their actual intelligence is lower, and usually work tactics with other birdemic creatures. Birdemic creatures are filled with a universal compulsion to destroy civilization, sometimes. Sometimes they just fly away into the horizon for no reason.

FeatsEdit

Birdemic creatures gain Improved Critical (claws, beak, or talons) as a bonus feat, as well as Flyby Attack.

EnvironmentEdit

Within bad movies

OrganizationEdit

Solitary or Birdemics (2-too many)

Challenge RatingEdit
