The City of Deep Webs (5e Campaign Setting)/Alear/Talace
Slender white-haired female Drow of X0 years youngest of House Alear. Talace has a slender build and stands a bit taller than her mother and sisters. Unfortunately, her physical build does nothing but further accentuate her oddness. In the face of her mother and sisters, Talace is timid and attempts to make herself seem as small as possible.
Talace as a proper daughter of house Alear attended and graduated from Arachne-Tarantu with a mediocre marks at best. Often Talace was scolded for coming up with unorthodox solutions to her challenges, many of which involved the under Dark flora and fauna. During this time Talace was able to unlock more and more secrets of nature, culminating in her ability to transform into several forms of spiders, a fact that was shared with the leaders of Arachne-Tarantu.
Under normal circumstances, this unique skill would have been seen as heresy but since she was “technically a priestess of Loath” the High Priestesses of meet behind closed doors and rumor has it conducted a ritual to contact Loath herself. Only those present know what happened but Talace was allowed to complete her training and leave Arachne-Tarantu.
Years of being made to feel she is a disappointment by her older siblings for being “different” and little to none affirmations from her mother has taken a toll on Talace. Talace finds solace in one place, her laboratory located in House Alear and with work and experiments she conducts there. Talace was not asked to come back to Arachne-Tarantu after completing her training and secretly she feels this is a blessing from Loath herself.
With Talace, the production of crops from Hosue Alear has increased noticeably in both quality and quantity. Matron Mother Zesstra has taken notice of this and the newfound productivity has allowed some flexibility with future endeavors and expansions. Talace’s methods and directions as not granted her any acknowledgments or accolades as Matron Mother Zesstra feels “being useful is the least you can do”.
Talace feels that she can tap into the primal forces of life and death from studding the spores, flora, and fauna. This has given her an understanding of nature and elements of the Underdark that would rival any experts.
