Katana Disciple
Not all samurai wears heavy armor and carries banners, some prefers to be duelist perfecting their art. The katana disciple is a master of sword-fighting, eschewing heavy armor and become unparalleled champion of the blade.
Class: SamuraiPathfinder
Level: 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 15th
Replaces: Armor Proficiency, Mount, Mounted Archer, Weapon Expertise, Banner, Greater Banner
Benefit: A katana disciple gains the following class features:
Armor Proficiency: A katana disciple is proficient with only light armor and no shields.
Duelist's Finesse (Ex): A katana disciple gains Weapon Finesse as a bonus feat and treat the katana as a finesse weapon.
Sword Parry (Ex): A katana disciple can parry her opponents attack and immediately strike back at them. She gains a swashbucklerPathfinder’s opportune parry and riposte deed except she does not need panache. She must be wielding a katana in order to parry an attack this way. After a katana disciple parries an attack, any other attacks made until the end of his turn take a -4 penalty. At 7th, 11th, and 15th levels, the penalty decreases by 1. At 19th level, a katana disciple can use sword parry without penalty.
A katana disciple may use her parry ability on a ranged attack, but doing so does not grant her the ability to attack her opponent back as an immediate action.
Nimble (Ex): At 2nd level, a katana disciple gains the gunslinger’s nimble class feature, using her samurai level as her gunslinger level.
Weapon Expertise (Ex): When a 3rd level katana disciple gains weapon expertise she must choose the katana.
Clarity of Battle (Ex): A 4th level katana disciple gains a +2 bonus on her Will saves while she is under the effect of her challenge. This bonus increases by +1 at 11th and 20th.
Weapon Training (Ex): At 5th level, a Katana Disciple gains the Weapon Training class ability as a fighter except she may only choose the Heavy Blade group and never gains another weapon group. Every four levels thereafter she increases her weapon training bonus by 1.
