Traditionally taught in wizard colleges that teach a large amount of nobility, due to its great use in honor duels, this spell is arguably more effective than the more traditional Wizard's shield.
You create a small, invisible pane of force you can direct with an act of will. As an immediate action, you can grant yourself a +6 shield bonus to AC against a single attack you are aware of. This bonus applies against incorporeal touch attacks, since it is a force effect. The shield has no armor check penalty or arcane spell failure chance. You must be able to move a hand to gain this bonus, although it need not be free, and is traditionally directed with the hand holding the Wizard's focus, allowing the other hand to be free to form somatic components.
As with a shield spell, this can block magic missiles, but an immediate action must be used, as normal. This spell appears on any class list that contains shield.
