When cast, this spell enhances and amplifies the natural geothermal energy of the earth. Natural earth or stone terrain in area takes on a slight warmth to the touch and begins to radiate heat to a height of 10ft above any affected surface, countering non-magical cold and bringing the ambient temperature to a comfortable 70°F if it would otherwise be lower. At caster's discretion, stone surfaces affected by this spell may faintly glow, at approximately the illumination of a candle per 5ft square.
The effects are greatly enhanced when cast underground, with one of two possible sets of effects selected by caster:
Soothing Warmth: The duration extends to 12 hours, and the heat takes on a supernaturally soothing quality, doubling natural healing for the duration.
Sweltering Heat: The heat increases up to a blistering 125°F, well within the range of severe heat, dealing 1d4 non-lethal damage per 10 minutes on a failed save (Fort DC 15 + 1 per previous attempt)
