Spellscale Paragon

Spellscales are fun loving fools, but they lack power. A true spellscale though has learned how to draw from their dragon ancestors .

Making a Spellscale Paragon

While they lack the phisical power of many races, they have great ablity to wield magic.

Abilities: Charisma is THE most important ability for them, as they’re spell's DCs are based on them, but Constitution and Dexterity will help to.

Races: Like every paragon class, you have to be a spellscale to enter this one.

Alignment: Any.

Class Features

All of the following are class features of the Spellscale Paragon.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Spellscale paragons are only proficient with simple weapons

Draconic Heritage (Ex): Spellscales are born with a natural affinity toward one dragon or another. When gaining this ability, the spellscale's draconic heritage gives him skill bonuses equal to +2 on Bluff, Listen, Sense Motive, and Spot checks made against the kind of dragon that he is descended from. To work this into game terms, the player selects a kind of dragon and gains the above bonuses.

+1 level of existing Sorcerer spellcasting class: For every level invested into the Spellscale Paragon class, the spellscale sorcerer level is considered to be higher by the same amount invested into the Spellscale Paragon class. NOTE: This bonus only affects spells known, spells per day, and spell DCs. This class feature dose a spellscale with no sorcerer level any good until he gains sorcerer levels, at witch point he gains full benefit form this ability.

Claws, Bite (Ex): Apon reaching second level, the spellscale has awakened enough of its heritage to grow claws and fangs that can do damage. Damage is equal to d4+Str for claws and d6+Str for bite for medium spellscales (for smaller or larger spellscales refer to table 7-4 on page 114 of the Player's Handbook).

Full Heritage (Ex): When a spellscale reaches 3rd level of the Spellscale Paragon Class he has awakened as much of his draconic heritage as he can without being a full dragon. He may choose to gain a breath weapon equal to 6D8 points of damage based on his draconic heritage (see the "Half-Dragon" entry on page 146 of the Monster Manual for specifics) or he may choose to gain wings (Fly at 30, good) and a tail (D6+STR)

Campaign Information

A Spellscale Paragon should fit into any campaign that uses spellscale and sorcerers no problem.

Playing a Spellsclae Paragon

Religion: Spellscales almost exclusively worship dieties on the Dragon Panthion, the two most common ones being Bahamut or Tiamet.

Other Classes: Spellsclae Paragons hav ethe best relations with bards and gnomes because of the choatic nature that these three share. Few paladins and monks can stand the pressence of a Spellscale becuase of it's choatic nature

Combat: Spellscale Paragons tend to stay in the background casting spells, much like you would see a sorcerer do

Spellsclae Paragons in the World

Daily Life: Most spellscale go through daily life just as a normal human or elf would

NPC Reactions: Most NPCs will regard a spellscale with suspicion because they never know what will happen.

Characters with ranks in Knowledge (Local) can research Spellscale Paragon to learn more about them. When a character makes a skill check, read or paraphrase the following, including information from lower DCs.

DC Result
5 Spellscales love to cause mischief
10 Spellscales can make some of the most powerfull sorcerers in the world
15 Spellscales are the closest to to a pure sorcerer as you can get
20 Spellscales gain their magical powers because of their close relation to dragons
