Electric Sheep
Is that warforged... snoring?
Benefit: A living construct with this trait gains the ability (and the requirement) to sleep at least 4 hours every night. This is actually a low-power mode where most systems are inactive and on standby and the "mind" runs various processes and optimizes recently collected data. While in this mode the living construct creates an alternate reality for itself and engages in lucid dreaming. When entering Sleep Mode, the living construct chooses one of the following two options: Eight Hours. This option requires significant downtime every 24 hours. However, while asleep the construct is under the effect of the Light Sleeper feat, as its detection apparatus is still operating. Four Hours. The living construct requires less downtime, but more systems are taken offline, resulting in a "deeper" sleep, and takes all normal penalties associated with being asleep. After these 4 hours, the construct is counted as having received a full 8 hours of rest.
Drawback: The living construct loses its immunity to sleep spells and similar effects that would normally not affect them. Any class abilities or other features that are dependent upon getting rest do not function without sleep.
Special: Must possess the Living [Construct] subtype, must have an Intelligence score.
Roleplaying Ideas: Perhaps in its quest to become a Real BoyTM, the living construct found a way to experience the sensation and effects of sleep. Perhaps it was a quirk of the construct's creator who decided that robots should sleep, or claimed that this need for sleep Isn't A Bug, It's A Feature. Perhaps the idea of machines that were ALWAYS WATCHING was too creepy and this was the chosen fix for the issue.
