Lycanthropes are those afflicted or naturally able to turn into half man, half animal creatures. The normal Lycanthrope template gives everything a Lycanthrope should be, animal form, DR, massive boosts, the whole thing. But just in case you wanted a much lower power form stripped right to the bone, here it is.
Creating a Low-Power Lycanthrope
This template can be acquired template or inherited template that can be applied to any humanoid or giant.
Size and Type
The base creature’s type does not change, but the creature gains the shapechanger subtype. The lycanthrope takes on the characteristics of some type of carnivorous or omnivorous creature of the animal type (referred to hereafter as the base animal).
Hit Dice
Same as the base creature.
Speed
There is no change in speed. However, in hybrid-form they gain a +10 bonus to speed.
Armor Class
Due to general toughness, the base creature gains +1 natural armor.
Attack
There is no change from the base creature in normal form, but in hybrid-form they gain a bite attack which deals 1d6 plus Strength modifier for medium creatures.
Special Attacks
Curse of Lycanthropy (Su) Any humanoid or giant hit by a low-powered lycanthrope’s bite attack in were form must succeed on a DC 11 Fortitude save or contract lycanthropy.
Special Qualities
Scent (Ex)
A lycanthrope has the scent ability in any form.
Alternate Form (Su)
A low-power lycanthrope can assume the hybrid form of a specific animal. Changing to or from hybrid form is a standard action.
A slain lycanthrope reverts to its humanoid form, although it remains dead. Separated body parts retain their animal form, however.
Abilities
The low-power lycanthrope gains +2 Wis and -2 Cha, gaining animal senses, but becoming of a strange, animal mindset as well.
In addition, when in hybrid form they gain +2 to two pre-selected ability scores suitable for the animal they are crossed with. For example a werewolf may gain +2 Str and Dex.
Challenge Rating
CR +1.
Level Adjustment
LA +1.
