does this work with practiced Spellcaster?

It says it increases caster level by 2 up to a maximum of hd. Does this mean a 3rd level wizard can be a 5th level wizard?Dr.Drako (talk) 18:13, 16 December 2019 (UTC)

I think they'd be a 3rd level wizard with a caster level of 5. Which is still pretty sweet for a level 3 character. --Foxwarrior (talk) 19:52, 16 December 2019 (UTC)
Hm, that isn't intended. Interesting loophole, but I probably should seal it. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 23:41, 16 December 2019 (UTC)
Actually no patch needed. "You count your HD as +2 higher for any effect which scales off HD" Scales off HD, caster level scales off... caster level, which is not tied to HD and is usually but not always tied to class level. So this feat doesn't help you with that. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 15:41, 18 December 2019 (UTC)
Practiced Spellcaster scale off HD I believe. --Leziad (talk) 17:54, 18 December 2019 (UTC)
It does. So does GW's mystic Theurge. --Undead_Knave (talk) 18:04, 18 December 2019 (UTC)
the point was that this would effectively up the cap on practiced Spellcaster, since if you take this feat at first level and practiced Spellcaster at third, you would have 3 HD, 5 effective HD, and CL 5. Dr.Drako (talk) 06:45, 24 December 2019 (UTC)
Ooooh. Hmmm.... yes. Not intended. Not advised. But I see how it works by RAW now. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 07:12, 24 December 2019 (UTC)
