Towering above you 230 ft high is a tower of liquid explosives. The dreams of mankind shall lift into the heavens tonight.

A monster of a rocket designed to lift payloads into orbit, the Falcon 9 is the dreams of humanity realized. This robotically driven tower of explosives can project massively heavy loads into space, and then return for refueling.

Combat[edit]

It's a rocket, it cannot fight nor is it programmed to. The best it can do, through perhaps manual piloting, is burning a creature with its exhaust or explosively disassembling itself via fantastic explosion, a very one-time trick. It has no limbs, so it cannot attack nor grapple, and has no reach.

Burning Exhaust (Ex): During flight, a 30 ft line of plasma is ejected out of its bottommost section opposite the direction of movement. Any creature unfortunate enough to be within this line takes 20d6 of fire damage which ignores resistance and deals 1/2 damage to fire immune creatures and objects, with a DC 24 Reflex save for half. The save DC is Strength based.

If the exhaust intersects with the ground, to becomes a 30 ft radius cylinder 15 ft tall until it clears the ground. Any creature which takes at least 1 point of damage becomes permanently deafened, and the exhaust can be heard 10 miles away.

Fantastic Explosion (Ex): If the Falcon 9 undergoes some manner of unplanned (or intentional) spontaneous disassembly, such as by a crash, it explodes in a massive fireball as per superexplosion with a caster level of twice its HD. In this case it is a (at point blank) 40d6 explosion that spreads up to 150 ft radius explosion, DC 24 Reflex save for half. Like its exhaust the fire damage ignores resistance and deals 1/2 damage to fire immune creatures and objects, and deafens those damaged by it. The save DC is Strength based. This destroys the rocket, and is reduced to a normal 10d6 fireball if devoid of fuel.

Fuel Tank: The Falcon 9 cannot even move unless it has specialized rocket F.U.E.L., which it consumes in mass amounts, along with oxidizer which is assumed as part of the cost. The Falcon 9 can fly constantly at full throttle for 10 minutes (100 rounds), expending 100 gp of F.U.E.L. per round of flight for a total refueling cost of 10,000 gp. This is actually many gallons instead of ounces, but the weight is not accounted for lifting purposes. It can halve or quarter the fuel expended by halving or quartering its movement speed.

If it is in freefall, it is capable of moving up to 45 degrees any angle downward due to its airbrakes and fins, no fuel required. It equates to moving up to 250 ft a round in any horizontal direction.

Overland Inertia (Ex): The Falcon 9 is very fast, with the listed speed being "tactical" speed against targets. In overland speed, it can travel up to 7700 mph (~Mach 10) in atmosphere, and in high peak altitude up to 15,400 mph. Above 380,000 ft it effectively faces no air drag and can accelerate endlessly, fuel permitting. If not pushing forward while in atmosphere, the Falcon 9 drops 500 ft/round of speed (50 mph) each round in low atmosphere and falls 500 ft lower. At high peak altitude it drops 250 ft/round (25 mph) each round, and falls 1000 ft lower each round.

The Falcon 9 only takes a single move action, moving up to its listed speed each round. It retains its speed from previous rounds adds any further movement in the same direction (or up to 45 degrees in the same direction) to its overall speed. Likewise it actually needs to turn around and move in the opposite direction in order to slow down. Each round consumes 100 gp of F.U.E.L. at full throttle. If following a typical launch pattern, a Light load will achieve orbit after 60 rounds/6 minutes, and a Medium or heavier load takes 90 rounds/9 minutes. Heavier loads typically have a powered second stage to get the target to orbit so the rocket has extra fuel left for landing.

In freefall the Falcon 9 drops 500 ft a round, or 1000 ft a round in high peak altitude (between 15,000 ft and 380,000 ft). In space the amount of speed it can obtain while falling is unlimited. Once it is traveling at 8,724 mph (76,770 ft/round) it drops half as fast and does not drop when traveling 17,448 mph (153,540 ft/round).

Oblong: The Falcon 9 is an oblong creature composed of 12 ft wide, 30 ft tall cylingers stacked atop each other. It is composed of 7 parts, for a total 455 hp. The top piece is the Probe Core, and the bottom the Engine. All other pieces are Fuel Tanks, and any payload lays on top of the Probe Core. Each section can be targeted and destroyed individually as a Huge creature, though it maintains structural integrity unless otherwise stated even when destroyed.

If a Fuel Tank is destroyed, the Falcon 9 loses an additional 50 rounds of fuel per round for every piece destroyed.

If the Engine is destroyed, the Falcon 9 can no longer take move actions and will be unable to move.

If the Probe Core is destroyed, the Falcon 9 can no longer change direction or start/end any movement.

Whenever a piece is destroyed, the Falcon 9 must make a DC 5 Fort save or undergo a Fantastic Explosion (see above).

Orbital Payload: The Falcon 9 can bring up a Huge payload within its carrying capacity (see Ultraheavy Lifter) held in a protective fairing. The Falcon Heavy version can bring up to a Colossal payload. Payloads often have their own propulsion which can bring them into higher and more stable orbits.

Programming: The Falcon 9 possesses the following programs: Calculate, Job Function (Profession Pilot), and Reposition.

Ultraheavy Lifter: The Falcon 9 has the carrying capacity of a Huge Quadruped with a carrying capacity of x7. It can reach any orbit with Light payloads, and low orbit with Medium or heavier loads. The example Falcon 9 has a Light load of 16,800 lbs or less, a Medium load of 16,801-33,600 lbs, and a Heavy load of 33,601-50,400 lbs. Regardless of load, the Falcon 9 can always ascend vertically at full speed as if they had perfect maneuverability.

Falcon Heavy rockets are basically three Falcon 9s strapped together. They add their lifting capacities together for a Light load of 50,400 lbs or less, a Medium load of 50,401-100,800 lbs, and a Heavy load of 100,801-151,200 lbs.

Construction[edit]

Falcon 9 are build out of a composite of many different metals, plastics, raw human awesomeness, and alloys which must be processed in a factory. In addition its computer core requires special components and programming. The cost of the base material components are worth 4400 gp.

Assembling the body requires a DC 25 Craft (technology) check, a DC 25 Knowledge Engineering, or a DC 25 Knowledge Xeno check.

CL 10th; Craft Construct, fireball, overland flight; Price 44,000 gp; Cost 19,800 gp + 1584 XP.
