Grease Bard, Wizard Conjuration 1
Standard action Complex, Creation, SR: Special ? V, S
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Target or Area: 10ft square or one object up to Large size
Duration: Dissipation
Saving Throw: See text
{{{description}}}

This spell, taught to many wizards for a wide range of applications, creates a patch of slippery grease on the ground. Alternatively, it can also coat an object as large as an ogre instead. Needless to say, the uses for this spell are limited only by the imagination.

This spell has two modes: one that coats a patch of ground, the other which coats an object.

Both modes possess this augment.

Augment (+5 levels): This spell's duration becomes Dissipation and Slot. As long as the spell remains expended, the user may use the ability again, but without expending it again. All other costs remain the same.

Area

This mode covers a 10ft square on a solid surface with slippery grease. Any creature in its area must make a Ref save or fall prone. This save is repeated for any creature that begins its turn in the area of the spell. A creature can walk within or through the area, but it is considered a difficult surface which is slightly slippery (see the Acrobatics skill description).

This mode does not allow spell resistance.

Enhanced: The surface is considered very slippery instead. Additionally, the spell receives a +3 bonus on its dissipation checks.

Diminished: Creatures walking within or through the area do not treat it as a difficult surface.

Immune: The spell functions as normal.

Object

This mode covers a single object up to Large size in slippery grease. An object that is unattended receives no save, but an attended object allows its wielder to make a Ref save to avoid it. If this save is failed, any creature holding the object drops it immediately. Every time any creature attempts to pick up the object, it must make the Ref save again or drop the object immediately.

A creature whose clothing or armour has been greased receives a +3 competence bonus on any Escape Artistry checks to slip a grapple, pass a tight space, pass a compressed space, slip bindings and pass a miniscule opening, as well as any attempt to escape from a grapple.

This mode allows spell resistance, but only for the target, rather than anything that attempts to pick up the target.

Enhanced: Such an object cannot be held or wielded at all. Additionally, the spell receives a +3 bonus on its dissipation checks.

Diminished: Creatures that attempt to pick up the object later do not need to make Ref saves not to drop it.

Immune: The spell functions as normal.
