This staff-head is made of finely crafted onyx, carved into the shape of a skull and supported by two bronze horns.
A special staff-head can be affixed to a magical quarterstaff, or a magic staff with 5 minutes of work. Once affixed a staff-head needs 24 hours to properly attune itself to the staff, after which it provides all of its benefits until it is removed. If a special staff-head is affixed to a quarterstaff that is not a magic staff, the quarterstaff becomes a magic staff with 2 charges and the special staff-head's spells as its only spells. If affixed to a magic staff, merely add the special staff-head spells to the list of the spells the staff may be used to cast. In either case, the staff gains all other listed benefits of the special staff-head.
A necromantic staff-head has the following spells:
- chill touch (1 charge)
- corpse puppet (1 charge)
Any attack made with a staff with a necromantic staff-head affixed to it deals an extra point of damage of negative energy damage against living creatures. This damage has no effect on undead or other unliving creatures. Additionally, a staff with a necromantic staff-head affixed to it can be used as a focus to replace 50 gp worth of onyx when casting animate dead.
Prerequisites: Craft Staff, chill touch, corpse puppet.
