When used in combat, this weapon serves as a [[SRD:Magic Weapons|+2]] [[SRD:Weapon Qualities|Large-sized]] [[SRD:longspear|longspear]]. The weapon deals damage as if it were one size larger (3d6), but also weighs twice as much as well. As a [[SRD:Standard Actions|standard action]], the wielder can cause the star-shaped blade tip to glow as a ''[[SRD:Daylight|daylight]]'' spell, which is dismissible. 

Additionally, as a [[SRD:Standard Actions|standard action]] which provokes an attack of opportunity, the user can let loose a line of sparkling energy, which deals half cold and half electricity damage. This is otherwise as a ''[[SRD:Lightning Bolt|lightning bolt]]'' spell with a DC of 14, using the item's caster level of 9th.

The longspear of the stars is a unique item that cannot be replicated, but is not an artifact and thus may be destroyed or enhanced further as normal. It's special enhancements count the item as an effective +3 total enhanced weapon for further enhancement.
