This setting does not lend itself well to some races. Duergar, drow, half-elves, and dragonborn have no homelands. I did not let people play them. I would suggest you tell your players the changes that were made to the race in the 5th edition players handbook. The changes are listed in the race section.

Picking their class was done usually after they saw their rolls, but some picked ahead of time and applied the stats as needed.

This is how I did it, it is really up to the DM. I am sure most people use these Campaign Setting pages for the setting, not so much for the rules.

If this setting is being used for a one shot game you do not need to have a session zero. If it is being used for a long term campaign make sure to read the section on running a campaign first. Players will need to answer those questions before the game begins.

Character Creation[edit]

This setting does not lend itself well to some races that are in the player's handbook. Duergar, drow, deep gnomes, half-elves, tiefling, and dragonborn have no homelands in this setting. These races are not open to players. This setting also makes some changes to the playable races found in the player's handbook, find them in the race section. Be aware that this setting has three homebrew races, these are also found in the race section of this setting.

Ability Scores[edit]

Players roll 4 (D-6 sided) dice a total of 6 times, and adding up the highest 3 dice, recording each dice total. Players can not re-roll any dice. They then take their 6 rolls and assign them to any stat they want. After doing that they apply any racial benefits.
