Order of the Academy

The Order of the Academy trains well-educated cavaliers, who rely on well-taught strategy and exquisite techniques to win their fight. It is not a single order, instead it is divided between many nations and organizations. The Order of the Academy places utmost importance in dedication toward its home institution or organization and its ideology, but not blind loyalty toward it.

Edicts: The cavalier must obey whatever institution or organization that she is serving, and ensure that the institution's ideology and integrity is preserved. If the cavalier must choose between either obeying an order, or preserving her institutions, she may choose either without penalty. The cavalier may seek to reform her institution or organization from within, but she may not undermine it.

Challenge: Whenever an order of the academy cavalier issues a challenge, she receives a +1 insight bonus on AC against the target of her challenge so long as she is able to observe them. The bonus increases by +1 for every four levels the cavalier possesses.

Skills: An order of the academy cavalier adds two Knowledge (Int) of her choice to her cavalier class list. An order of the academy cavalier adds half her levels on the chosen knowledge checks.

Academy-Trained (Ex): A 2nd level order of the academy cavalier gains the Uncanny Dodge class feature as a Barbarian.

Clear Head (Ex): A 8th level order of the academy cavalier no longer takes a penalty on her AC against other opponents when she uses her challenge.

Elite's Challenge (Ex): At 15th level, the cavalier can make an elite's challenge once per day. This functions like a normal challenge, but the cavalier adds her Charisma bonus on all attack rolls and damage rolls made against the target of her challenge. In addition, she receives a +4 circumstance bonus on attack rolls made to confirm critical hits against the target of her knight’s challenge.

Order of the Blue Rose (Variant)

An order of the blue rose revised to be slightly less difficult to play and deal with. The abilities with restriction have been relaxed. The order's tanking ability has also been increased by modifying Inner Peace and Shield of Blades. Flat of the Blade was altered to remove the incentive of only doing non-lethal damage, but if desired the original ability could be used.

Edicts: The cavalier must guard against needless violence, especially the innocents caught in the crossfire. She must aid in the efforts to bring peace or relief to war torn lands and populations. She must grant mercy when doing so would be reasonable and must also honor quarters when she gives it. She must protect her captives from torture, violence and death, even from her allies if needs be. She may allow particularly or inherently dangerous captives to be executed, especially those who have previously escaped captivity or justice. But must make sure that they are killed without cruelty or needless pain.

Challenge: Whenever an order of the blue rose cavalier issues a challenge, she receives a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls made against the target of her challenge. She only receives this bonus if the target of her challenge has attacked the cavalier, one of her allies or a bystander since the start of its last turn. This bonus increases by +1 for every four levels the cavalier possesses (to a maximum of +5 at 17th level).

Skills: An order of the blue rose cavalier adds Knowledge (history) (Int) and Knowledge (nobility) (Int) to her list of class skills. Whenever an order of the blue rose cavalier uses Diplomacy to influence attitude or make a request, she receives a bonus on the check equal to 1/2 his cavalier level (minimum +1). Furthermore, the cavalier may make a Diplomacy check as a standard action to convince a foe to surrender instead of a minute.

Extend Mercy (Ex): A 2nd level order of the blue rose cavalier is a merciful warrior, willing to spare most foes who are capable of surrendering. Firstly, the cavalier no longer takes a –4 penalty when attacking with a lethal weapon to deal nonlethal damage. Additionally, the cavalier gains a +2 bonus on Will save as long as she follows her edict. If she violates her edict, she loses that bonus for 1 week, any further violation reset this duration.

Inner Peace (Ex): At 8th level, the cavalier has learned that while not all things in the world will go as she wishes, she must remain calm and centered. Once per encounter as an immediate action, the cavalier may ignore an amount of damage from a single source (one attack, spell, or effect) equal to her cavalier level plus her Charisma modifier. She can only ignore hit point damage in this fashion. At 16th level she may use this ability twice per encounter.

Shield of Blades (Ex): At 15th level, the cavalier gains an expert sense of impending violence around her. Allies that are adjacent to the cavalier receive a +2 shield bonus to their AC. Additionally, whenever an ally within the cavalier's reach is attacked, as an immediate action, the cavalier can attempt to deflect an attack by making an attack roll opposed by the attacker’s original attack roll. If successful, the attack is deflected and deals no damage.

Order of the Crusades

The Order of the Crusades isn't a single order, but rather a collection of order for crusaders. While often associated with divine edicts, crusades exists in both a religious and secular sense. From holy battle waged against fiends, to territorial campaigns against orcs. Cavaliers belonging to this order are easily lost to zeal, especially when challenging a foe.

Edicts: An order of the crusades cavalier must pledge herself to an ideological or religious crusade. She must attempt to fulfill the purpose of her crusades by rooting out her enemy, destroying them wherever they may be and accomplishing any civil goal of her crusade. If she ever succeed or abandon her crusades, the order of the crusade cavalier must seek another cause and can stay within this order as long as she maintains her search.

Challenge: Whenever a cavalier of the order of the crusades issues a challenge, she receives a +1 dodge bonus to AC and a +1 insight bonus on saves against the attacks and abilities of the target of her challenge. The bonus increases by +1 for every four levels the cavalier possesses. However, while challenging a foe, the cavalier cannot use any Charisma-, Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills (except Acrobatics, Fly, Intimidate, and Ride).

Skills: An order of the academy cavalier adds Knowledge (Local) and Knowledge (Religion) to her list of class skills. She adds half of her cavalier level to Sense Motive checks made to get a hunch or discover a creature's true allegiance.

Crusader's Hatred (Ex): A 2nd level order of the crusade cavalier gains the favored enemy class feature as a ranger. She must choose an humanoid or outsider subtype. At 8th and 16th level, the cavalier gains an additional favored enemy. Additionally the cavalier may perform a coup de grace against her favored enemy as a standard action

For the Cause (Ex): At 8th level, an order of the crusades cavalier can call out to her allies, inspiring them to great zeal. As a swift action, the cavalier can grant a competence bonus equal to her Charisma modifier on all attack and damage rolls to all allies within 30 feet. This bonus lasts for 1 round. This ability can be used once per combat.

Challenge Horde (Ex): At 15th level, when the cavalier or an ally defeats the target of the cavalier's challenge ability, the cavalier can change the target of her smite to a different target within 120 ft of the previously defeated target without using an action. The new target must be of the same creature type and subtype as the previous target. If no applicable target is within 120 feet, then the challenge effect ends. This ability stacks with the Chain Challenge, choosing which one she is using whenever she or an ally defeat the target of her challenge.

The cavalier belonging to the order of the hyena seeks no masters but themselves. They are rarely found serving a lord, and often works as mercenary. Those who do serve a lord often insist on being treated as equal, or do so while under duress. These cavalier are known to be underhanded, but not always dishonorable. While they insist on their own independence, and oftentimes completely ignoring the authorities and laws, they are not usually loners. If many cavalier of the order works together, squabbles for dominance will be common amongst them.

Edicts: An order of the hyena cavalier must follow her own ambitions and strive not be chained by a lord or master. She must be strong and unyielding, and only defer to authority if she is forced or if she would benefit from it. She may feign submission to those stronger than herself, at least temporarily.

Challenge: Whenever an order of the hyena cavalier issues a challenge, she receives a +1 dodge bonus to her AC against attacks made by the target of her challenge. This bonus increases by +1 for every four levels the cavalier possesses.

Skills: An order of the hyena cavalier adds Knowledge (local) (Int) and Survival (Wis) to her list of class skills. An order of the hyena cavalier may use Bluff to improve the attitude of creatures, as if she had the Coax Information rogue talent. This does not allow her to take the Extra Rogue talent feat.

Hyena's Cunning (Ex): An 2nd level order of the hyena adds her Charisma as a bonus on her initiative rolls and Uncanny Dodge as the barbarian class feature.

Solo Tactician (Ex): An 8th level order of the hyena cavalier gains the solo tactics ability as an Inquisitor and a teamwork feat she meets the prerequisites of as a bonus feat. She may grant the chosen bonus feat with her tactician ability.

Unyielding Mien (Ex): At 15th level, an order of the hyena cavalier has learned how to anticipate blows and stare down those who fails to impress her. As long as the cavalier is not denied it Dexterity to AC, she gains DR 5/–. This damage reduction stacks with damage reduction granted by armor, class features and feats. If an attacking creature hits the cavalier, but deals no damage, it takes a –4 penalty to AC for 1 round and the cavalier may attempt an Intimidate check to demoralize as a non-action.

The bonus increases by +1 for every four levels the cavalier possesses. Finally, once per encounter, the cavalier can call upon her faith to bolster herself as a swift action. Doing so grants her a competence bonus on attack rolls and damage rolls equal to her Charisma modifier for 1 round.
