Order of the Academy[edit]

The Order of the Academy trains educated cavaliers, who rely on well-taught strategy and exquisite techniques to win their fight. It is not a single order, instead it is divided between many nations and organizations. The Order of the Academy places utmost importance in dedication toward its home institution or organization and its ideology, but not blind loyalty toward it.

Edicts: The cavalier must follow the rules of whatever institution or organization she is serving, and ensure that the institution's ideology and integrity is preserved. If the cavalier must choose between either obeying an order, or preserving her institutions, she may choose either. The cavalier may seek to reform her institution or organization from within, even through underhanded means, but she may not undermine it.

Challenge: Whenever an order of the academy cavalier issues a challenge, she receives a +1 insight bonus on AC against the target of her challenge so long as she is able to observe them. The bonus increases by +1 for every four levels the cavalier possesses.

Skills: An order of the academy cavalier adds two Knowledge (Int) of her choice to her cavalier class list. An order of the academy cavalier adds half her levels on skill checks made on the selected knowledge skills.

Academy-Trained (Ex): A 2nd level order of the academy cavalier gains the Combat Expertise feat as a bonus feat and counts as having an Intelligence of at least 13 for the purpose of meeting prerequisites. If the order of the academy cavalier already has Combat Expertise, she gain a feat that requires Combat Expertise that she meets the prerequisites of as a bonus feat.

Clear Head (Ex): A 8th level order of the academy cavalier no longer takes a penalty on her AC against other opponents when she uses her challenge.

Elite's Challenge (Ex): At 15th level, the cavalier can make an elite's challenge once per day. This functions like a normal challenge, but the cavalier adds her Charisma or Intelligence (whichever is higher) bonus on all attack rolls and damage rolls made against the target of her challenge. In addition, she receives a +4 circumstance bonus on attack rolls made to confirm critical hits against the target of her elite’s challenge.

Order of the Crusades[edit]

The Order of the Crusades isn't a single order, but rather a collection of order for crusaders. While often associated with divine edicts, crusades exists in both a religious and secular sense. From holy battle waged against fiends, to territorial campaigns against orcs.

Edicts: An order of the crusades cavalier must pledge herself to an ideological or religious crusade. She must attempt to fulfill the purpose of her crusades by rooting out her enemy, destroying them wherever they may be and accomplishing any civil goal of her crusade. If she ever succeed or abandon her crusades, the order of the crusade cavalier must seek another cause and can stay within this order as long as she maintains her search.

Challenge: Whenever a cavalier of the order of the crusades issues a challenge, she receives a +1 bonus on melee damage roll made against the target of her challenge. The bonus increases by +1 for every four levels the cavalier possesses.

Skills: An order of the academy cavalier adds Knowledge (Local) and Knowledge (Religion) to her list of class skills. She adds half of her cavalier level to Sense Motive checks made to get a hunch or discover a creature's true allegiance.

Crusader's Hatred (Ex): A 2nd level order of the crusade cavalier gains the favored enemy class feature as a ranger. She must choose an humanoid or outsider subtype. At 8th and 16th level, the cavalier gains an additional favored enemy. Additionally the cavalier may perform a coup de grace against her favored enemy as a standard action

For the Cause (Ex): At 8th level, an order of the crusades cavalier can call out to her allies, inspiring them to great zeal. As a swift action, the cavalier can grant a competence bonus equal to her Charisma modifier on all attack and damage rolls to all allies within 30 feet. This bonus lasts for 1 round. This ability can be used once per combat.

Challenge Horde (Ex): At 15th level, when the cavalier or an ally defeats the target of the cavalier's challenge ability, the cavalier can change the target of her smite to a different target within 120 ft of the previously defeated target without using an action. The new target must be of the same creature type and subtype as the previous target. If no applicable target is within 120 feet, then the challenge effect ends. This ability stacks with the Chain Challenge, choosing which one she is using whenever she or an ally defeat the target of her challenge.

Order of Gear[edit]

The order of the gear is an order if cavalier dedicated to progress and science. They are often found in service of artificer's guild or in the employ of inventors and alchemists.

Edicts: An order of the gear cavalier must work toward progress, especially in the area of technology. She must be forward thinking, open-minded and willing to accept new facts. She must work tirelessly at fulfilling her goal.

Challenge: Whenever an order of the gear cavalier declares a challenge, she receives damage reduction 1/— against attacks made by the target of her challenge. This DR increases by +1 for every four levels the samurai possesses.

Skills: An order of the gear cavalier adds Disable Device and Knowledge (Engineering) (Int) to her cavalier class list. The cavalier gains half her level when making craft checks, and on Knowledge (Engineering) checks made to study technology.

Weapon Artifice (Ex): At 2nd level, an order of the gear cavalier gains either the Technologist feat, or an Exotic Weapon proficiency with one of the following weapon: flickmace, mechanical spear, piston maul, ripsaw glaive, one exotic crossbow, or similarly advanced version of archaic weapons (not firearms).

Gearhead (Ex): A 8th level order of the gear cavalier gains the Master Craftman feat as a bonus feat, even if she does not meet the prerequisites. Additionally she gains one item creation feat she meets the prerequisites for. Additionally, she craft item at twice the normal speed and may repair an object as per make whole three times per day.

Wondrous Device (Ex): Once per day, the 15th level cavalier is able to replicate the effect of any spells on the sorcerer/wizard list of 6th level or lower. The cavalier must provide any components or focus required by the spell, such as costly material components.

Order of the Hyena[edit]

The cavalier belonging to the order of the hyena seeks no masters but themselves. They are rarely found serving a lord, and often works as mercenary. Those who do serve a lord often insist on being treated as equal, or do so while under duress. These cavalier are known to be underhanded, but not always dishonorable. While they insist on their own independence, and oftentimes completely ignoring the authorities and laws, they are not usually loners. If many cavalier of the order works together, squabbles for dominance will be common amongst them.

Edicts: An order of the hyena cavalier must follow her own ambitions and strive not be chained by a lord or master. She must be strong and unyielding, and only defer to authority if she is forced or if she would benefit from it. She may feign submission to those stronger than herself, at least temporarily.

Challenge: Whenever an order of the hyena cavalier issues a challenge, she receives a +1 dodge bonus to her AC against attacks made by the target of her challenge. This bonus increases by +1 for every four levels the cavalier possesses.

Skills: An order of the hyena cavalier adds Knowledge (local) (Int) and Knowledge (nobility) (Int) to her list of class skills. An order of the hyena cavalier can make Knowledge (local) skill checks untrained. If she has ranks in the skills she receives a bonus on the check equal to half her cavalier level (minimum +1) as long as the check involves organizations or people willing to hire her or who crossed her.

Hyena's Cunning (Ex): An 2nd level order of the hyena gains the solo tactics ability as an Inquisitor. If she does not have the tactician class feature, she also gains a teamwork feat that she meets the prerequisites of as a bonus feat.

Headlong Rush (Ex): At 8th level, an order of the hyena cavalier can push herself and her allies into a reckless assault. As a swift action, the cavalier can grant herself a competence bonus equal to her Charisma modifier on all attack and damage rolls, and a +20 feet increase to their land speed, for 1 round. Any allies within 30 feet of the cavalier may choose to also receive the benefits of the cavalier's headlong rush, but take a –4 penalty to AC for 1 round. This ability can be used once per combat.

Unyielding Mien (Ex): At 15th level, an order of the hyena cavalier has learned how to anticipate blows and punish her foes. Opponents adjacent to the cavalier takes a –2 morale penalty to attack rolls. Furthermore, whenever a creature is attacking the cavalier with a melee attack, the cavalier may stare them down as an immediate action. The attacker may continue to attack the cavalier, and provoke an attack of opportunity from her, which is resolved prior to resolving the enemy attack. Alternatively it may stop attacking, or redirect her attack to another creature within reach, but upon doing so it takes a –4 morale penalty on attacks rolls, damage rolls and AC for 1 round. This ability must be declared before the attack roll is made.

Order of the Nightwatch[edit]

Once founded to defeat a powerful vampire lord, the Order of the Nightwatch stand to protect the lands from the lords of the night and their minions.

Edicts: The cavalier must protect the land and its inhabitant from monsters (aberration, evil spellcasters, evil outsiders, lycanthrope and undead). He must seek and destroy such creatures and those who consort with them. He may let such monsters live, so long as he believes they will be no threat to the innocents.

Challenge: Whenever an order of the nightwatch cavalier issues a challenge, if the target of her challenge is an evil outsider or an undead she receives a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls against them. The bonus increases by +1 for every four levels the cavalier possesses. If the target of her challenge is a vampire (including variant vampires such as the nosferatu or vampire spawns) this bonus also applies to damage. A creature with the dhampir subtype counts as undead and vampire for the order of the nightwatch cavalier's challenge.

Skills: An order of the nightwatch cavalier adds Knowledge (religion) (Int) and Survival (Wis) to her list of class skills. An order of the nightwatch cavalier adds half her levels on Knowledge (religion) made to identify creatures and on survival checks made to track.

Vampire Slayer (Ex): At 2nd level, the cavalier gains Vampire Hunter Tradition as a bonus feat, alongside one technique feat of her choice that she meet the prerequisite of. For the cavalier, such feats use her Charisma rather than Wisdom to determine their effect. Additionally she gains the vampire hunter's detect undead class feature

Glory of Light (Ex): At 8th level, the cavalier gains another technique feat that she meets the prerequisites of. Finally, once per encounter, the cavalier can call upon her faith to bolster herself as a swift action. Doing so grants her a competence bonus on attack rolls and damage rolls equal to her Charisma modifier for 1 round.

Night's Vanquisher (Ex): At 15th level, the cavalier becomes immune to negative level and death effect used by the target of her challenge. She automatically loses any negative level inflicted upon her at the rate of 1 per minute without needing to make a saving throw. Finally her challenge bonus functions against all evil creatures, and the extra damage applies to all the listed types in addition to vampires.
