Longspear
Martial Melee Weapon
Name | Cost | Damage | Weight | Properties |
---|---|---|---|---|
Longspear | 1 gp | 1d10 piercing | 4 lbs | Finesse, Reach, Two-Handed, Exotic |
Note: see Exotic Weapon for restrictions on this weapon
The longspear is a longer version of the spear. Longspears are made to be flexible, allowing them to be a finesse weapon, but they lose the thrown property.
Their length classifies them as a polearm for the Polearm Master feat's opportunity attack reach ability (see Player's Handbook (5e) p.168).
Exotic Weapon
The longspear is an Exotic Weapon. Being proficient with martial weapons does not grant proficiency with this weapon. If you are not proficient with this exotic weapon, you may not add your proficiency bonus to attack rolls. See the Exotic Weapon article on how to gain proficiency with this weapon.
Monk Weapon
If you are both a Monk and are proficient with this weapon, it is treated as a Monk Weapon for you.
