Heart quickens and senses distort. Lifecutter's come to cut life short.
The lifecutter is a half-living half-dead abomination, thought to be a distorted servant of death who had lost their mind and soul and become mindless serial killers. Others blame them on urban legends, such as being evil people reborn or the vengeful spirits of workers at the hands of young and foolish teenagers. Whatever the real cause, these unstoppable killers hunt their prey, instilling terror before slaying in in bizarre and gruesome means.
Lifecutters have the size and proportion of well built and intimidating humanoids, and understand Common, but rarely if ever speak. They are proficient in all simple and martial weapons, and light armor, but most just use their iconic battle shears.
CombatEdit
Lifecutters enjoy the chase as much as the kill. It's one thing to kill a creature, but another to have it die in terror, and its corpse to inspire terror in their friends and allies.
Extraordinary Health (Ex): The lifecutter always receives maximum hit points per hit die.
Frightful Presence (Su): Creatures with HD of 1/2 its CR or less in a 60-foot radius that look at the lifecutter must succeed on a Will save or be frightened for 1 round/level, or shaken on a successful save. Creatures with greater HD are only shaken, save negates. A creature that successfully saves cannot be affected again by the same lifecutter’s aura for 24 hours.
Heartseeker (Su): Lifecutters can see the circulatory system of living creatures with blood, even through solid objects and fog, up to 30 ft. This gives them a +4 bonus to confirm critical hits, and they ignore up to 20% concealment (so total concealment is only a 30% miss chance) as long as they are within their heartseeker vision.
Mortalbane (Ex): Lifecutters gain a +2 attack and +2d6 damage against living creatures. This bonus is not added above.
Regeneration (Ex): The regeneration of a lifecutter is bypassed by good damage, and typically one unique damage type or substance unique to each lifecutter. Some lifecutters may be poisoned by weapons soaked in water, while another may lose their regeneration whenever under exposure by sunlight.
Skillful (Ex): Lifecutters gain 6+Int skill points per level for their racial hit dice.
Spell-Like Abilities (Sp): From their Serial Killer feat, they gain a special dimension door (self only) at will, but only when unobserved and when it puts you within 30 ft of your prey
Spiderclimb (Su): The lifecutter is always under the effects of spider climb.
Unholy Blessing (Su): The lifecutter adds its Charisma modifier as a profane bonus to AC and saves.
