Tinnitus
Tinnitus is the malady of overstimulated aural nerves percieving noise, usually a sort of buzzing high-pitched ring, that does not exist. Unlike an illusion, which projects false sensations to those they afflict, tinnitus is the product of ear or brain damage — most frequently a severe sonic assault that isn't quite severe enough to outright deafen its victim.
A character afflicted with tinnitus takes a −4 penalty to Listen checks, as the false noise they constantly hear drowns out real sounds. They are also continuouslt distracted and must always make Concentration checks to do anything that could be spoiled by a disraction, such as casting a spell.
