I really misread this article. What I originally thought was "Vampiric Touch the Metal", and that you stab someone with a longsword and gain 1-8 temporary hp. Pretty cool, I can dig it. I thought it just botched trying to explain the pricing of this material.

Then I figured it out with Gan. Oh. Oh dear.

Hooboy. It took me a bit of reading and deciphering to figure this one out, and after some math we've learned that the damage growth is exponential for weapons, the armor, well, a level 10 fighter with 100 HP that gets knocked down to half HP while wearing his 11,700 gp bloodsteel half-plate gains +14 to his AC. Have squire hold shield to recharge. It is interesting, but mechanically it just doesn't work.

It looks interesting but
