Scholarly Defence [Combat]
Your knowledge of strange creatures allows you to anticipate their special attacks and avoid some of the damage.Prerequisites: Intelligence score of 14 or higher; Scholar Feat.Benefit: You may roll Knowledge pertaining to an enemy at the beginning of combat.
If you succeed your roll by 15 or more, you gain damage resistance to all of that creature’s attacks for the remainder of the encounter. The damage resistance is equal to their CR or to 1/2 your level, whichever is higher.
You must make a Knowledge roll for each different type of creature to benefit from this.
Each knowledge roll is a standard action.
Examples of Knowledge rolls related to certain creature types:
- Arcana: constructs, dragons, magical beasts.
- Engineering: androids, robots, clockwork.
- Dungeoneering: oozes, subterranean creatures, flora and races.
- Nature: animals, fey, giants, monstrous humanoids, plants, mycelium, vermin.
- Planes: aberrations, elementals, ethereal, incorporeal, outsiders (celestials, demons, devils..etc).
- Craft (Construct): constructs.
- Religion: undead.
Note: You cannot roll a Knowledge that you are not trained in.
