Unofficial Summary: Bryson Landgrave, a noble of the Styes, decided to discover what was on "the underside of the world". So he commissioned a pit be dug on a small island outside of the Styes. As the dig progressed, it was subjected to a number of "bizarre or mysterious accidents" that caused the death of a number of workers. Landsgrave decided to beseech the gods for protection, and so built a temple (using mainly the materials recovered from the dig). However, an earthquake caused the temple and the dig to collapse (also taking most of the remaining workers), leaving only the tip of the temple's steeple above ground. The site is now known as "Landgrave's Folley".
